So what's the overall opinion on Origins and Leviathan now?

Gameplay is very smooth in 1.30.6, but I still feel the passive nature of the AI, even if it was tweaked. It was vastly improved in the latest patch.

I think I will have to reapply the latest patch, and go with the other bugs. But maybe there isn't long to wait for the new one.

There may be a caveat however. If historical nations are on, those nations are rampant. England and France were blobbing everywhere, to the extent that England formed GB before the end of the 1500s AND was going mad with colonies. There were four powerful nations all with over 1000 dev by 1590, GB, Ottomans, France and Ming.
What was England conquering to have dev that high? 0r youre just looking at gp list? Ming being powerful wont matter in an age or two

It was from the GP list, but by 1590 GB had conquered all of the UK mainland, including Ireland. They also had a chunk of France, and colonies in the usual places. But they were absolutely rampant for such an early age. It's in complete contrast to the majority of smaller AI nations where the debt spiral (presumably) had caught up with them. Nobody declared on me. I started a campaign as Hungary (as a completely different game) and I was presented with much the same thing. Early days, but nobody is attacking me. Even Austria got the CB on me and they refused outright to attack because they had good relations with me :D

I am currently chilling on 1.32.2, I think it's a good middle ground. The leviathan and origins content are patched, no major bugs remain. It is before the combat and AI were fiddled with in 1.33. There were no province changes in 1.33 so mods such as ante bellum and anbennar are all backwards compatible. I will not be updating until I get confirmation that the combat and forts are fixed.
