No matter if the solution to implement it includes HQ's or whatever, I request, no, I demand that HoI 2 will keep military leaders at every level. That is, divisional leaders should stay with their divisions even if they are made part of a corps or army.
These higher echelons should in turn have their own commanders. I'm positively fed up with having to bother with tons of independent divisions just to get their leaders having the experience they are entitled.

Any news or information about how command chains will be treated?

Yes, even if no advanced system of corps/armies/army groups with HQ units and whatnot is introduced, at least let us appoint leaders for individual divisions as well as the unit they are part of (though this might of course be annoying if you're playing Russia with 200 infantry divisions  ).

I hope it will be possible to "lock" units together. I usually have about ten commanders in an armygroup, and it is not easy when you have to move all those ten units over and over again. especially when they are mixed with other units in a province. If you could lock them into one frame it would be just one movement instead of ten, which would save me a lot of time (I would not need to pause :D )

Precisely.

Anti-strunt, don't forget that divisons are also assigned a default leader at creation. Although in HoI this is always a skill 0 leader, the concept could be broadened upon.
And once a leader is in place by whatever means, you'd never have to bother with him again, that is until you need to make a promotion - only wait for those iron crosses to grow... :)

This way you could also add more historicity to the game. Make Rommel start out a lvl 5 skill divisional leader (of the 7th Panzer Division).

We're with you, Ardito! We're RIGHT BEHIND you in the landing craft. In fact, we're holding in to your shoulders and staying very close BEHIND you. CHarge! Lead us! (We'll duck.)

Agreed.

I'm definitely all for a fully articulated chain of command, with changes to the command organization being made from a fully separate screen with a command tree. You'd still have the list, but maybe to save time you could be able to just type in names (i.e., I can easily remember the names Guderian, Manstein, Deitl, Kesselring, Zhukov, Koniev, Yamamato, etc., so it'd actually just be quicker to type in "Guderian" or whatever over the army box, "von Runstedt" over the army group box and so on...

This has been mentioned before, but it'd also be nice for giving leaders their historical responsibilities over areas much larger than a single province, like, say, RAF Fighter Command, where Dowding is in command of the defense of Britain, and gives all his subordinates his bonuses (and maluses, if they're in the game, like in Victoria, where a lot of historical leaders just plain sucked :p ), instead of just commanding a single fighter group in Coventry and providing only a HQ bonus to adjoining units.

Yes personally (as HOI as mostly about war) this aspect is the most interesting for me. I never did like th 12 stack rule and hope that they implement a way to force the players to mix their units.. not just keep stacks of 12 mechs, 12 tanks 12 infantry.

just a note

i hope we will not have separate lists of air/land commander:
i do not know how to handle that, but i'd desire to have just one kesserling, to use as an air force OR land commander (or the two but just in the same theather), not two, one in russia and one in italy.
thank you!

Yup combining the troops is the key for Army to work with the best efficiency!
But less uints you have the better you use each of them, more units less efficiency.

Can't this already be done in HoI by assigning them to numbers?

How about the following solution:

-add HQ units
-add an extra screen where you can assign units and leaders in a treeview
-have an option "autoassign leaders for subunits"

This would do following things:

1. it would be easy to create a chain of command, since you could simply assign a hq to another one (maybe this should be limited to 3: Corp, Army, Group)...

2. ...in a comfortable extra screen where you could click your organization together instead of searching each unit and assigning leaders

3. the option "autoassign" would allow the player, to give an army a field marshall and let the AI assign the rest of the corps and divisional leaders, thuse keeping the micromangement for players who arent interested in this stuff very low

Apart from the chain of command and extra leaders, you could do a lot of nice things with HQs ;)

I think the most important aspect of the question is how HQ will be represented. Is it going to be any change on that, stay as in HoI 1 but with slightly different fanction?By a new unit woth completelly new usage?
All these question are important but till now have no info so i guess we have to be patient.

i don't think it is too bad atm. Seperate divisional commanders :eek:o in my opinion. It is  if you are someone like Yugoslavia but very :( and  when you are UK or Russia, I'd imagine ;).
