I am actually OK, with this. This will be a test run of the type of quality work coming out. Truthfully, I would not trust anybody but CDPR to do a proper VTM:B sequel. I know everyone says "But obsidian has a lot of troika employees..." Yea..but they are not the ones running things. It is clear from their last couple of games, they have really toned down their games and lost their edge. I think this is one of the reasons Chriss Avellone left, suppression of artistic freedom. Can anybody honestly see modern obsidian releasing the amazing VTMB today? I can't. ALL the mature elements would have been removed. Sex/embrace intro? Nope. Sexy characters like Velvet, Venus, jeannette? Yea, not in a million years and I doubt most female characters would even show any skin. Probably remove the strip club and have the one token prostitute. Definitely remove anything that might offend someone like the amazing fat Larry, asian vampires,..etc. Would not have your own ghoul(slave) like heather poe, if we did it would be some ugly dude that was a criminal and not an innocent attractive girl. On top of that, obsidian LOVES combat, forget stealth, forget solving issues without violence, social skills..etc. Obsidian will definitely go heavy in fighting, which sucks because I love playing a social/stealth character. I got through the whole game without violence till the finale boss battles which forced you to fight, but before that the game was amazing. Now those are just some things off the top of my head. It is those elements that are some of the reasons the game has such a cult following, remove those elements and you have a much lesser game. I just can't see obsidian or any other company pulling it off, what I see obsidian making is just another VTM:Redemption. Not a bad game, but not anything that will create a cult following. I really hope obsidian does not try to do a VTM:B2, they will definitely screw it up and give us a watered down PG-13 version of the game with heavy combat which will not have the magic that made the first one.

Im so excited for this.
Although i was primarily a VtM fan i think WWtA is the right choice here. Trying to start the franchise back up is challenging enough without everyone point for point comparing whatever they release to VtMB. This way they are free of that and also get to hold onto the heavy hitter (VtM) of the franchise for follow up releases.

Paradox, put it up on Steam and you can have my $$$ today. I can wait.

I am incredibly hyped. VTM is the only system I played so far, but I am very optimistic the game will be great! Will definitely pre-order.
Thanks Paradox for reviving WOD-videogames
.
The few info we have seems promising too, I like the motif of the werewolf rebelling against the destructive nature of human society. Seems very suitable for a "modern setting".
Last but not least, using Werewolf instead of VtM leaves open the possibility for what I amstill dreaming of long-term wise: A VtM grand strategy game à la CK2, with clans, lineages, generations and epic powerstruggles! ;)

Alright guys let me make this clear:

White Wolf function as their own company. Paradox Interactive doesn't have a say in what projects they decide to make or who they work with. Any questions about their games should be directed to White Wolf.

Do you want to discuss the WoD IP? Awesome, go nuts!
Speculate about future projects? Have fun!
Debate and discuss individuals working for White Wolf? Take it elsewhere.

This thread is again open but if this derails again it will be locked permanently.

thank you for reopening the thread. I'll try and start a civilized discussion.

I find the current new game by White Wolf to be too politically orientated and set in a setting that hits too close to home. Not a single Vampire The Masquerade module has mentioned the current American president by name before and never before have I been judged by a game depending on what real world policies do I agree and disagree with.

I have heard things in recent interviews about their future bigger IP (I think it's Werewolf?) that it will possibly be just as politically opinionated by recreating and encouraging a recent real world event that included a certain politically minded person getting punched and called names. I would love if they would reconsider that and would deliver a more politically neutral game. Seriously guys, involve in vampire politics. Werewolf disagreements. Mage covenants. But don't bring up real world politics and problems, as we all have different opinions on those and I don't think that we should be punished for it. Nor do I think that games that involve real world events age that well.

Up until now Vampire The Masquerade PC games and tabletops survived very well without getting political about real life. If its possible keep it that way. If its not possible then I'm afraid, but I'm no longer interested in White Wolf products. Which is a shame, because I loved the world that you have created guys :(

Uh... what?

WW games have always been political. They may not have named specific politicians before, but then again we never had Trump in the White House. But Werewolf, in particular, was loaded with politics, given it was a game about the environment, inequality, urban decay etc.

political, yes. However "left is right", "right is wrong", you must agree with the refugees political? This smells like a propaganda piece a mile off. And werewolf game is now apparently about Nazi punching. And unfortunately I don't think that they were speaking about wolfenstein sort of Nazis :/

And again, not sure how you missed it back in the nineties, but yeah, it was always very left leaning. Massively so. Pro-environment, pro-feminism, pro-minorities, pro-LGBT.

It wasn't as apparent in Vampire, but definitely in Werewolf and Mage.

Of course, I for one approved of their 'agenda'.

I played some werewolf as well. Only thing I ever noticed was the 'ecoterrorist' environmentalist angle. Which I wouldn't call SJW.

Can't speak for Mage, other than Dark Ages. Where I, again, never noticed anything of the sort.

Are there any books you can recall in particular that did this?

I just think that everything is shades of grey and not just black and white. The refugee crisis in Europe for example also has serious crimes being committed by the refugees against European citizens and some of Isis is getting in posing as refugees. So there's no "refugees are just good" nor "refugees are just bad". That is why I do not like when a game just gives the "right" angle. Because often there is no "right" angle. One thing that I liked about Vampire the Masquerade so much. Joining the rebellion was not any better than aligning with the Tremere guy which was no better than just leaving on your own. Only being a "good" sock puppet netted you the bad ending.

What they're doing right now, it feels like they're feeding you the "right" angle and just that. I'm very concerned about the "punching nazis" thing that they mentioned in one of their interviews, mostly because currently the flaw with that is that you can name any view that disagrees with yours as "nazi" and justify physical violence against a person with that.
