i'd imagine its magdeburg. You have powerful neighbours you can vassalize (hansa, brandenburg) early on, and probably ally poland since you arent too far from them

Outside of Europe: Japanese OPM's. Especially the OPM with the Gold Mine. Of course, this is only true as long as Japan is working properly...normally every Add-On breaks it again.

With that trash tier starting ruler? No way. Dutch minors, Irish minors, Knights (piggyback Venice into owning BYZ), even crap like Sarig Yogir might be stronger for fast emergence...and once Japan works I'd add in any Daimyo that's OPM due to alliance spam --> immediately take Shogun. I believe Riga is also.

Even some of the Sub-Saharans are in better shape since you can westernize more readily sooner in the game but aren't gimped so badly with 2 total monarch points from rulers.

Thinking on it now, Naxos is pretty awesome for an OPM. You pretty much only need Austria to hate Venice and it's easy to break free; you can get out and take Crete in the same war and then annex Byzantium from there. After that you're just a Byzantium start with less free cores.

Not sure if anyone has tried this (because it's probably stupid :p) but I'm playing a Frankfurt game where I HAVE to stay a OPM/city-state for the whole game, with the goal of trying to get as high on the scoreboard as possible. I vassalized Hesse, Mainz, and Trier with the goal to create a giant "buffer ring" for protection around Frankfurt. It's surprisingly entertaining but also difficult at times: you find yourself anxiously sweating over something as (typically) minor as getting up relations with an urgently needed ally/ losing a bit of trade power due to an event/ not having enough mercenaries available (house rule) to save a vassal's army from an Austrian doom-stack. I might try to redo the game with a OPM that is coastal simply to inject the naval aspect of the game and protectorates into the mix.
