There's NEW westernization?

Yeah, as the others said Westernization is a multi-part process. You can westernize your techs, and then once you've moved up to a new tech, you can change your unit_type to the new western types. There are some pretty hefty penalties to the unit upgrades, but you get useful troops out of it.

Oh, you can also start on the westernization process by sharing a border with anyone that is in a higher tech class than you, not just latin. So if you border an eastern country, you can go up to eastern tech and units before you have to get a latin neighbor.

Mecklenburg- I'm wondering how tough it will be without owning Lubeck.

It's an awesome trading nation. Even though you only get 10 ducats per year, you get very nice slide moves (+4 Free Trade) which makes it the nation with the highest compete chance, unlike Hansa or Venezia. With inflation reduction advisers I managed to get 110 ducats per year in 1500. Also, since you have lost of merchants placed in CoTs you have a nice culture tradition bonus so you can replace the inflation advisers easily in case of their unfortunate death.

Thanks for the reply. I'll probably focus on trade, I didn't know placed merchants help cultural tradition. Eventually I'll have to reclaim Lubeck.

So hard to choose ! Last time, I played Armagnac, with magna mundi mod. (the small country between Spain and France). This time I think I might take one of these countries: Lithuania, Ireland, Brittania, Norway, Sweden, or perhaps I will release Finland or Gotland (if possible) as Sweden.

Denmark, I wanna try someone powerful enough that I can experience all the new features without having to worry about other nations to such an extreme. But not so powerful that I can easily annihilate anyone I want with the snap of a finger. At least until I inherit Norway and Sweden, then things get much easier.

I've been learning the ropes mostly with England, and I've come to the realization that I could put together a seriously formidable militarist state with Britain, so long as I used my naval superiority to shield myself while I develop my economy. Claiming thrones could be a good way to gain useful German and Dutch minors as PUs to exploit.

Burgundy, as I was enjoying a wonderful game as them until 3.2 crushed my BBB-crushing ambitions. After that, probably Austria, Bohemia or Hungary as I don't usually play HRE, then probably an Italian country and at some point, the Astrakhan' Khanate!
