I've yet to have any of my colonies actually rebel due to unrest during colonization, but I actually honestly think that sounds like an amusing edge-case and wouldn't mind seeing it brought in as a core mechanic- I miss the colonial and sector secession movements from pre-Utopia.

I get the most stuttering when the game is paused in the late game and I'm trying to use the expansion planner.

It doesn't seem to close the last colonization view once I select the species either so that seems to add to the stuttering too.

I don't understand why the game struggles on minor paused screens. All it's doing is creating one ship and one order for it. If I do it without the expansion planner there's not the same lag!

I personally find the state of 2.2.6 pretty good and I have a lot of fun again. Performance is much better, and the claims that the AI is still broken seem exaggerated. Here are a few screenshots from an empire that I have made a tributary recently in my current game, as you can see they are using districts and buildings, they are removing blockers, and there aren't three precint buildings on every planet.

I do concur on this one, any content that makes things exciting rather than dull is appreciated. It just has to be fixed if you get a bugged event with every world you colonize. The game may be playable, still, but this ruins any immersion that might still be left in this franchise.

I hope the automatic sector generation is a prelude to some more interesting sector rebellion mechanics being planned for future expansions. That could be a fun way to challenge large empires and add some resistance to snowballing.

Sounds like it is repeating a request to retrieve / display data over and over again under certain conditions.

I'm not seeing how this bug is "immersion-ruining", honestly, at least not compared to every AI empire immediately tanking its economy via Precinct spam in 2.2.5.

We haven't seen these internally. Would you mind posting saves where this happens in the bugs forum, please?
I was about to do this, but I cannot due to the steam sync problem on the forums. If I can, I'll do so tomorrow.

Wait, that's happening to others? I thought it was just me and I had broken a rule or something without realizing.

i see a lot of people complaining about the AI whilst upping aggressive settings, not just in this thread but others too. personally in strategy games i have usually found that putting the ai on aggressive actually makes the game easier not harder.

sure in the very early game the player might be put under extra pressure by early war decs but assuming you survive that early game period the AI will cripple itself declaring unprofitable wars. if you make them aggressive they will declare wars that are likely to end in stalemate or at best be very hard won simply because their behaviour settings force them to and will end up losing most of their fleets time and time again for little or no gain.

what you actually want is them to behave more like humans and only declare profitable wars, as in ones they can win with relatively few losses unless they have absolutely no choice but to declare a more risky war or else stagnate.

try leaving the aggression settings on normal and see if the AI does any better.

note i am not trying to defend the AI here, i am well aware of how crap it has been, just pointing out that i generally find upping the AI aggressiveness is more of a hindrance than anything else to the AI in the long term.

Agreed. AI Agressiveness settings in MOST games usually result in early Zerg-rushes and AI focus on warfare that actually cripples them.

An AI aggressiveness setting that would balance the AI so that they were aggressive AND got discounts on ship building, upkeep, and upgrades then it would be a challenge.
