-the "Angel of Death" ability? Has it been cut out?

-the global heat modifier of 150% heat generation? I hope it has been cut due to changes to weapon's heat generation, but while watching the streams pointed in this direction, I couldn't find hard evidence of it not being there. I really hope it is gone, it always felt like a cheap, interim workaround for balancing issues that in the long run would better be approached otherwise. And it was a pain to calculate loadouts, too.

'Ace Pilot thingy' is shoot and scoot, I believe. Option to shoot first, then move. Which is pretty amazing, as you can break LOS back to you.
Angel of Death was just... too much.

I like the new skill better anyway. Now I'm REALLY glad to Spec piloting on my Main character.

Yeah, I agree. This new skill looks amazing! I never was too much a fan of AoD, more like ambivalent. Shoot and move gives some nice edge to light mechs or piloting/tactics mechwarriors. reserve, move, shoot, shoot, move, be save.

I'll be pairing it with some early investment focus in Tactics skill, but not a Tactics ability. I have other plans for my second ability...

So, what happened to melee damage scaling to things like arms lost? Still not a thing, is it? I remember it to not have been in the beta, but am not 100% sure. Had a short discussion with @Kereminde on twitch chat.
Wishlist item. It's a long wishlist to model the entirety of the IP. Think Christmas list versus what mom Santa could reasonably get for us.
The devs start with an order of need and precedence and work from there until time is up I.E. the game is ready. Anything after that is post release "in success" potentially.

Yeah i think i will use 2piloting/1tactics on my light pilots but try 2piloting/1gunnery on my mediums instead of bullwark.
The reserve, move, shoot, shoot, move might be very good for mediums that i dont want to get shot at even with bullwark.

Really? I thought it was scaling down as you lost limbs in the Backer Beta but that's been a while. I wasn't 100% sure anyway.

Ok, I didn't intend this when I started this thread, but:

"So, what happened to" the +/- accuracy thing? In beta, +accuracy was bad. I just saw an AC5++ with +2 accuracy. As it was stated that +/++ weapons are never worse than standard ones, this must be better. So they changed this mechanic?

I remember seeing talk about it. But I only remember the same talk as any feature that they'd like to implement and how they'd like to do it if they did.
If anyone remembers it different no problem. But links would help.

In the beta it was probably more for example that you lose a leg, you lose one of the 2x dfas. I could be wrong though, in that if it was deeper I dont recall that...

I don't have it to boot up and check out. (Possibly because I'm not a streamer ;) ) But it's less important if it was cut and something which can make it in at a later time among other refinements.

It's been a while now, some stuff is melting into memory of talking about it rather than playing it for me, I'll admit.

I think they just wanted people to see at a glance that + was good and if they had -2 Accuracy, no one would ever take it as it would look bad.

It's a psychological thing. As long as they have the calculations working fine in the back office, I will be happy to see +25% crit, +2 Accuracy, etc.

That is a good choice. Being an old pen&paper roleplayer I didn't have much of a problem with it, but I expected new players to have problems with this. The game is complex enough as it is, no need to get irritated by stuff that can be done easy,

They've been adamant that the different weapons will only give bonuses, no negatives. Which to be honest I'm a little disappointed in. Most of the 3025 scenario books are full of misaligned lasers, faulty cooling systems, engines that run hot, or gyros that aren't spec'd to 100%. It's mainly a difference in game design between the 80's and today. Restrictive versus permissive. Not really an improvement or a failing, just a sign of the times.

I understand that thought, but I think it would be too hard for new players. There's basically metric shittons of information to be processed by the player when starting this game, having system errors or worse equipment might just be too much.

But i totally expect our modding community to come up with something like a "hardcore battletech fan edition" ;)
