Better ground warfare ? Trade ? Culture ? Others victory ? Spying ? Better spatial warfare (there is currently no use to divide the fleets...) ? More differences between species (aside from some minor traits there is no difference between species) ?

I'd really like to be able to purge or displace individual pops for an influence cost. Let's say 100 influence per pop?

The new species rights system is nice and I like how your choices have broad consequences, but occasionally you just need to make some room on a planet for your founder species before you lose control of it. I'd say that's a more reasonable proposal than having to evict everyone or, say, making their entire species go extinct.

Overhaul Warfare, then overhaul trade, then overhaul diplo. Though i feel like diplo should be more integral to the overhauls of the two former.

Right now, there is no way to play as a "Space Venice", where you can become wealthy off the back of trade rather than your own territory. Nor is there any way to really use your wealth as leverage other than by being able to spend it on fleets to win wars.

It'd be nice to see some sort of dynamic system akin to trade flow from EUIV. I'd like to see a system in which some planets or regions become more or less important for trade flow, so owning that area would be a big economic boon, but even empires who don't own that space would have interests in what the trade policies are for the empire that does own that space.

One idea that seems like it might be cool is to have common markets that empires can sign up to. Imagine if empires could organize for food to be an actual galactic resource, shared between all participating empires. You could have empires which specialize in becoming a bread basket, who can trade off their food to other empires, who in turn can then afford to go all in with energy or minerals etc.

The possibility of interdependent empire builds not only gives diplomacy some interesting hooks, but also allows for more dynamic reasons to form defensive pacts etc. "these purifiers aren't a threat to me, but what if they attack my bread basket ally?", as well as setting up a system where trade sanctions could actually have some weighty threat to them.

The next update (so I've heard) is suppose to be quality of life/bug fixing, which right now I think is greatly needed even if it isn't to exciting.

After that I would definitely say the most important thing would be to overhaul and flesh out warfare in both space and land.
After that, I think diplomacy should be fleshed out.

This might seem a bit premature, but I think that each Tradition tree should be expanded to something like 2-3 times its current amount. That way you can really focus on a tradition rather than having to pick all of them, some of which are completely irrelevant to your ethos, to unlock every Ascension perk.

So, let's say you fully flesh out a 15 focus Supremacy tree, a 15 focus Harmony tree, and spend the last 5 on Prosperity. You've unlocked every Ascension perk so now the focuses are capped and the extra Unity goes to something else... maybe research? I don't know. I just get this big feeling that the Traditions have a lot of room for expansion, you know, getting a new bonus every 5 focuses on the tree with something really worthwhile at the end. Stuff like that.

I'd really like to see this, especially since there's nothing else to do with your federation after you create/join one. Make wars a lot more interesting too, after all if you can take out the breadbasket. The others will starve, letting you bring several empires to their knees at the same time (if your the attacker that is). Maybe even have a member specialize in supplying the naval power, like the Turians in Mass Effect.

Actually... personally I'd like to make a pitch for bug fixes and balance being the top priority. I'd rather the devs just focus on that for a couple of months and not get distracted designing and implementing a bunch of sexy new features that end up a buggy mess like so many of the current features.

But of course sexy buggy new features are what bring more money in, so I'm not holding my breath that they'll actually focus on getting what's already in the game working properly.

I would like to see a little bit more expansion of the faction system to better represent differing systems.

For example - You have the pacifist and the militarist xenophobes, it would be good to see other similar combinations.

I dont think Xenophiles should be tied to whether aliens are enslaved/free, but whether their rights are different. I mean, I know Paradox are Swedish, and Sweden has a sterotype on the internet, but I find it strange that the ideal Xenophile Authoritarian society has the Primary species being slaves to the Xenos. The pulls and weights also mean any slaver society will inevitably become Xenophilic or Xenophobic. It would be good to have a situation where "every person has their place".

In any case, outside of improving features brought to Utopia, improvements to combat and war are a must. Right now its....well.....dull.

There have been some great ideas on the forums on how to solve it (I personally think drastically cutting down the 'power levels' is a must). A good addition would be adding 'topography' to the game. One of the things that bugs me is the whole thing feels kind of 'fiddly', and I end up spending a lot of time playing cat and mouse with various fleets and being bombarded by numerous fleet detected warnings.

Should definitely be trade! Private sector and/or pirates and/or space bars and bounty hunters! (See how easily this links up with espionage...!)

There is no real economy in the game right now, so even economically focused civs face little incentive to trade with others (the one exception being research, where techs work like goods). Would be nice to have the reality of free trade reflected in financial benefit to all civs in-game :)

Espionage along with new/extended diplomatic features. (May I even dare to say embassies being brought back in some form or another?)
New interesting phenotypes and/or portraits. Expanded variety of home planets. Playable nomadic fleets. Super weapons that actually allows you to completely obliterate planets, and even stars..

Not necessarily in that order.

I think the biggest problem of trying to implement a trade system is what you even be trading? The game isn't really set up for simulating economics and production, rather just abstract concepts.

To be honest I think if trade of some kind were to be implemented, the best way would be using trade routes and trade goods in a way similar to EU: rome. Planets would produce one or more trade goods (possible based on the planet type and buildings), and you would then set up trade routes between different planets. The only issue i see with this is I dont know how intensive it would be in terms of processing.

What new diplomatic features would you like? I feel like the diplomacy in this game is already bonkers with options.

Agreed - it doesn't have the crazy goods simulation system of Victoria 2. However, I don't see why strategic resources couldn't be traded along routes like you say. At the moment, they're just a simple boost to some very specific thing like "explosive weapon damage". What if strategic resources had tons more uses, making trade more important? And the trade routes would need to be protected from enemies and pirates, of course...

Espionage/ways to mess with your neighbors without going to war.

I'd love to be able to fund factions, especially in weaker powers that would be afraid to go to war with me. Targeted interventions for the purpose of social engineering would be fun, too. I want even democratic, utopian states to have a Special Circumstances division that can stir things up.

Dystopia! No idea what it would entail but definitely dystopia.

And dear god, please no espionage. I can't think of a single 4x game that made espionage that was more than an annoyance at best and neglibel or rage inducing at worst.

Well, we gotta have some way to track what techs/ship designs our enemies have. It makes the combat more interesting too!

Besides, it would be so damn cool to have a dynamic underworld in the game (Jabba the Hutt, Boba Fett) that you could hire out to spy/sabotage/cause riots for you.
