I think we all know that SEA and Africa are top priority in DLCs now, but what comes after them ? There are still places that lack a lot of flavor (Central Asia, Scandinavia etc.)

Which place would you prefer to have an update first (after SEA and Africa of course) ?

After SEA and Africa get their own respective updates, hopefully the devs look into fixing the New World mechanically, and giving new mission trees to some of the majors that don't have proper ones like the Scandinavians, the Ottomans, Persia, the Mamluks, QQ/AQ, and Arabia. (Scandinavia and Arabia don't even have unique ideas)

Oceania and the Pacific, while unlikely to be on the list, could probably use some love too. Considering how Australia's getting a new religion this update though, I still have hope.

China probably deserves another face lift too. The Mandate is still objectively bad to take if you're not Manchu, and even then it's barely a sidegrade due to the Horde bug this patch. Chinese provinces are similar in size to Siberian ones. China has less dev in total than Germany. Ming has one branch in its mission tree.

Speaking of Siberia, if the Kamchadals are in the game I don't see why the Samoyeds and Yakuts can't be in game too.

Religions like Animism, Totemism, Judaism, Zoroastrianism and Confucianism could use a (re)work.

Personally wish the Maghrebi nations recieved a slight facelift too, including a trade node rework, removingcoastalraiding, and giving nations like Algeria, Tlemcen and the four Maghrebi minors proper ideas.

Is it confirmed Africa is getting a DLC? That's good to hear, I feel like countries in the West, Central, and East Africa regions are lacking in unique content. Central Asia and Scandinavia I think are two plausible suggestions and they both seem to me like about the right scale for an immersion pack, but an African update I would hope to be a full expansion. Personally I feel like the Americas deserve a touch up; I know they do have content already, but Conquest of Paradise and El Dorado were so long ago that many of the mechanics do feel a bit dated now, especially playing as the natives themselves. The various major native Americans have a lot of potential for great mission trees, and I feel like there could be a lot done to make playing a native tribe much more fun instead of twiddling your thumbs on speed 5 until the Europeans arrive. More content for colonial nations would be great too and I think would fit in an American expansion well, especially with all of the new ones added in this update. Currently the only colonial nation with a sizeable amount of content is the USA, but other majors like Mexico and Brazil are just as deserving of flavor. I would love a way to play as a colonial nation BEFORE being released from the mother country, but that's just for personal roleplay reasons. I think it's a little silly that you can't play America in ironman while also fighting Britain for your independence (without starting 50 years before the end date anyways.) Apart from that, a big thing I'd like to see is an update to some of the more neglected religions such as Animist, Totemist (an America expansion would be a great opportunity to update this), and of course Judaism and Zoroastrianism, which have practically no unique mechanics. Hell, Norse is a more interesting religion than Animist and there are dozens of Animist countries at the start date with more to come. Those are my hopes anyway

It isn't. The last rework that was publicly talked about before the first SEA dev diary was released was for America. Johan replied in the Emperor dev clash to a question regarding and said something like "Yeah we might do it in the next, ah no, not the next one.".

Wait Australia gets a own religion?
What we know is that Australia no longer has the same Animist religion as Asia. That is ALL and EVERYTHING we know. It is entirely possible that they will share this religion with other non-Asian currently-Animist nations.

One way or another, though, Animist is getting split into at least two different religions.

As for the future, I think Americas should be updated before Africa. They are painfully ancient as far as content goes, their stuff dating back to the first DLC.

They should really rework some DLCs. If you own all DLCs except for Conquest of Paradise, the only thing you miss is the button to play as a colonial nation and the native federations, which is simply not worth for a 15€ DLC. They should give all these DLCs the Third Rome treatment: Give mission trees to those nations, and lock them behind the DLC. For example, Craddle of Civilization could add extensive mission trees to Ottomans, Mamluks, Persia, etc. El Dorado could give missions to Aztecs, Incans, etc. This way, you don't add 11 new DLC's to regions that already have a DLC

It's really weird how expectations change. For years Scandinavia and Ottomans weere the regions with the most flavor. In number of events Scandinavia are still quite high at the top I thought. But jsut becuase people now expect mission trees and over the top formables, we immediately expect these regions to be reworked.

I would like a focus shift towards less content for content sake. More provinces isn't alway better, not every single city has to be on the map. I would like new mechanics and then content to support those mechanics. An top of mind example are the new mercenaries. They are cool and add a lot of flavour. But how amazing would it be if you would have events about specific mercenary companies? Or even unique missions trees that you unlock when you hire a mercenary company! (example, Hessian Mercenary Company mission tree to deploy them in Continental United States and follow the path of them).

Eh, I find mercenary companies to be pretty uninspiring. This period is all about the movement towards the large standing army and adding content for a feature the game encourages you not to use I fell is just kinda wasted dev time.
Just imho tho

I am pretty sure this update/dlc (there are just too many mission trees for simple update) will include SEA and Oceania. I am sure people have noticed that there is a Polynesian Triangle Trade Node in game now, which first appeared (as far as I know) in Oceania Expanded mod. I remember reading that the modder was hired by Paradox, but I can't find where I read it, but if we use that mod as hint, we know that Polynesian Triangle and new religion are features of that mod. So I fully expect new nations in Oceania (most likely limited to Australia and New Zealand).

After SEA and Oceania, I think we are going to New World, because a lot of features there need to be reworked because they were so old. After that I can see Africa, because there appeared to be several developer who like Africa and wanted to do Africa (so much they update part of Africa in 1.30). I know some people think more provinces does not necessarily mean a good thing, but in places like SEA, New World, and Africa, they are still lacking so many important detail that more provinces is necessary. For example, I take SEA because that is where I have more knowledge, the country that united Southern Sulawesi is Bone Kingdom, but that country did not exist in EU4 right now, instead we have only Makassar, which kinda like having Wales but no England. So more provinces and countries here actually a good thing still.

But before New World and Africa (if we ever got them), I think paradox going to return to Baltic and update Scandinavia.

Why Africa needs any rework?
West africa is full of wrong tags and have some fictional tags; the continent is full of generic mission trees; missions, events and mechanics dont reflect adequately the history of the continent.

Other region that needs some update is south america outside the andes, this continent outside the andes have almost nothing.

South America is in the most need of a Rework.

It is the continent with the least content after Australia, nothing ever happens there other than getting blobed by some colonial power and it hasn't been touched since the El Dorado dlc.

Polynesia getting expanded seems plausible. It does feature the possibility of adding new tags, as there have been groups there that would fit EU4-style presentation of tribes. Also, maybe there could even be even some new gameplay features (it would be quite a strech, but perhaps some cross-sea migration or unique method of colonization, kind of how Russia got Siberian frontier). It is of course still just speculation, but in so far as areas that have never been expanded upon are concerned, there's Polynesia and Australia/New Zealand left, with Australia not really being a place that would fit with having EU4-style presentation of tribes (I can see New Zealand getting some tribes, though).

South America is in the most need of a Rework.

It is the continent with the least content after Australia, nothing ever happens there other than getting blobed by some colonial power and it hasn't been touched since the El Dorado dlc.
It's the same in NA though. NA has even less flavor than SA just because the Inca exist.

Massive American and Colonial Overhaul should be next. Should focus on more stuff to do as the Native Tribes, immersion for Totemism, and legit missions for Aztecs, Inca, Mayans, and Native Tribe; while colonial overhaul should be a general change in how you colonize, either by province, for richer, but smaller colonies, or by state, for poorer, but larger colonies. While there should be a redux of liberty desire in-general to allow for more independence wars late game. After that immersion pack/free update to Baltics and Scandinavia, then to West and East Africa (Missions for Ethiopia, Mali, Benin, Adal, Songhai, Timbuktu, Makuria, Alodia; and some mechanics to sycreticism)

Personally I would want more focus on fixing bugs or tweaking some stuff from old dlc and immerion packs before they keep adding new mechanics. I really love the new stuff, like the new estates are amazing and way more fun and engaging than the old but it just feels wrong to keep adding stuff when old things aren't 100% functional. Now I don't know how much of the old stuff isn't working as intended but I am pretty sure there are more than my 3 examples below.

Third rome russian ai just doesnt really do anything, always crippled by debt even before the debt spiral of emperor, sure muscovy at the start of the game is functional but that's mostly 1 not enough time to get debt 2 the vassal swarm. So the only thing third rome did was make russia stronger in player hands but weaker in AI hands. To be honest tho I actually don't remember how strong/weak russia was before since it was so long ago, even if there was a change at all. However when they fix the debt spiral of emperor I wouldn't be surprised if russia won't be affected by it.

Golden century introduced the colonist improving provinces making it so the only way to make your colonial nation to stop doing that is to release it and attack it. I know they added stop colonial growth in emperor but when I played last the button did not work once the colonist was in place.

Dharma added a bunch of missions that used estates for requirements to finish missions, now I have not played any nation in india since emperor so I might be wrong but maybe those needs a look at and some tweaking so it works in a ''balanced'' way with the new estate system. But yeah this example is my flimsiest, I only remember reading a post about india on the forums weeks ago if I recall correctly.

Thing is I really do like the dlc model of eu 4, it's so different from when I started playing and it makes the game feel fresh still. I also really love it when they add new features and mechanics to the game, unique government types and new buildings etc are really cool. The devs of eu 4 really are awesome to have made eu4 what it is now, even tho emperor was a complete mess, the ideas behind it are not once the bugs and some balance tweaking is done it will be amazing I believe.
