First Coming of Jesus Christ
Here is my speculation:Don't know why everybody just downvotes me. The truth is that there comes a time when no matter how good a game is it's never going to match up to the expectation the hype has built. Judging by how everybody's foaming at the mouth to lick the digital box of Stellaris, this is pretty much as close as it's gonna get. People are treating this game like it's going to suddenly revolutionize the entire gaming genre. Well ok then... I'll just sit over here with my slightly average expectations.
The trading system seems to be a step back from even CiV, where at least there were trade routes.
It's not like they were that good in CiV to be honest at least in my opinion...
My point exactly.
I will enjoy watching people's expectations crash and burn when they realize Stellaris is just a game and not the second coming of Christ.
I don't mind watching realtime space battles (occasionally - it would get tedious fast if I had to watch *every* battle), and that Star Wars video was neat, just don't make me have to clickclickclick to give orders. Generally speaking, I pass on any space "strategy" game that advertises "realtime tactical combat". I'm fine with turn-based tactical combats, and I liked the format of Endless Space's combat too - just pick a few cards/chits and let it auto-resolve. None of that realtime orders stuff for me, thanks.there's something magic that happens when you can watch in realtime a space battle that unfolds like a good sci-fi movie. Sins did that damn well for me (e.g. they even have a 'cinema mode' so you can sit back and watch it), but I'll give Star Wars a look and see if that manages to beat it. ;-)
Some of the mods for sins made it even better. Star wars ascendancy has my fancy right now, as well as the fall of Kobol mod. The colonials are very well done in it.@LastLeviathan Ya, you understood exactly what I was referring to... there's something magic that happens when you can watch in realtime a space battle that unfolds like a good sci-fi movie. Sins did that damn well for me (e.g. they even have a 'cinema mode' so you can sit back and watch it), but I'll give Star Wars a look and see if that manages to beat it. ;-)
And for those referring to the second coming of Christ, I'm well informed that Stellaris is going to be like the second AND third comings of Christ, but with extra vanilla ice cream cake.
Yeah, the slave to the game thing is what finally made me quit. Scheduling your real life for a game is utter ridiculous. I had my saturday's and sunday's taken by that game LOL. Though i did enjoy it, but the community got old after a while. Too many elitist pricks. From the looks of the game, it is the closest you can get to leading a major coalition in EVE online, without becoming a slave to the game. (BTW, being a slave to EVE online is merely a necessary condition, but not a sufficient condition to have the opportunity to be a coalition leader.)
