So; I was on my second attempt at going for the "Sultan of Rum" achievement.

My first attempted was ruined just shy of winning; I had most of Italy including Rome and was almost finished with Lithuania; Muscovy was being owned by a United Denmark and I was within a farts breath of Moscow.

Then; thanks to the fantastic need of Ironmans stupid Steam cloud bullcrap the save was corrupted and all my work was lost.


So; chin up and all. I had another whack at it. I was doing ok, all be it not as well as the first attempt but was utterly roflstomped by a coalition of Hungary, Poland, Timurids, and various others. I had to re-release Byzantium to avoid loosing much more.

Then...I was attacked by Austria and FOUR months into the war; this is the situation:

Wow that sucks I got an ironman save ruined too, I hope it won't happen now that they have fixed most of the ironman breaking stuff (though I guess crashes can still happen) how did you get such a huge coalition against you btw? and now that you're only fighting Austria and russia it looks like you can win (if you use your men right)

Well the Coalition was due to my eating up the Mamluks and a small amount of Southern Itally. I pushed ever so slightly further than I should have.

As for the Austria war; they attacked me with a Religious CB.

Considering the achievement I was aiming at; there is no PU less lucky than Austria and Russia dam it.

Also I wouldn't count on anything as fixed. My Germany save was corrupted only 3 days ago.

Considering the achievement I was aiming at; there is no PU less lucky than Austria and Russia dam it. Yeah that is indeed the most unlucky pu I have ever seen,

I hope you can salvage it and lay low for a time, there is still plenty of years left for you to destroy them in (though it does look pretty difficult) and ironman breaking upon forming nations have been fixed with 1.5. but I guess there is still a lot that can break ironman saves.

Just for the sake of interest; this is what they wanted to end the war. Not game breaking but with that PU it's game over anyway especially as I'd have to beat Commonwealth first.

Yep, that's really, really unlucky.

How many loans have you taken already? If it's only a few, I honestly think that war is winnable; I wouldn't abandon the game just yet if I were you. Your treasury and manpower are not so bad, and mercenaries could still turn the tide and get you a White Peace if you play your cards right

Yeah you got unlucky that the poland lithuanian pu formed, it hasn't for me in my most recent games, and yeah I think a restart would make it a lot easier for you, if you're aiming for the achievements (but then again where is the fun in that)

No loans at that point; but my tech level is vastly inferior at only 9. I could westernize as I border with Aragon and fight back later, we'll see I'll keep the save.

Yeah you got unlucky that the poland lithuanian pu formed, it hasn't for me in my most recent games, and yeah I think a restart would make it a lot easier for you, if you're aiming for the achievements that is.

That is unlucky, But Austria getting a PU with Russia is so much worse.
