Thx for the helpful comments. There seems to be much in Reaper's Due that is quite interesting. However, the current maladjustment of the death rate from normal disease would be a constant irritant as I know it is highly incorrect. As has been mentioned repeatedly, the majority of the high mortality is concentrated in the first years of life and a male, especially an upper class male, reaching adulthood had a life expectancy similar to today. Females ofc had significant mortality due to complications of childbirth. I'll be keeping an eye out for the fix and will surely purchase it then.
Posters here seem to fall into two general categorizes, those desiring a relatively historical playing field and those who are generic slash and burn gamers desiring maximum chaos and disaster in whatever game they happen to be playing. I'm firmly in the former camp, for me the primary attraction to CK2, and last night I purchased almost the entire collection, is its attempt to be relatively true to the actual historical background of the times. Anyone can market an anything goes fantasy world, Paradox tries to market games that at least resemble the 'real reality' as best we know it. This is rather unique for this time period.
