So the "bring into the fold" war goal as the Crisis creates a vassal even with a Status Quo?

a neighboring empire declared war on me, I selected Bring into the Fold as my wargoal even though I just wanted 3 systems and knew I probably wouldn't actually achieve the war goal cause i didnt feel like slogging through all their systems (plus they were at war with someone else, might screw with the Acceptance.) After i asked for a status quo (they were at 100% war exhaustion but it was less than a year so I dont think it was forced peace), I got the 3 systems I had claims on, but also the 5 more i had occupied (no claims) including one with a planet, which became part of my new Vassal, with good relations too. Is this how its supposed to work? I can see this being alternatively overpowered (and useful) cause you can cut up large empires without spending any influence on claims. I did test it by reloading and their Acceptance level was identical to me spending the influence to claim all 8 systems for myself instead (again, assuming it wasnt forced peace) so the AI script seems to be taking this into account

it could also foreseeably be annoying because unwanted vassals (you cant really abandon occupied systems) can block you off from taking other systems

Bring Into Fold is the one that gives your overlord a vassal, right?

If it's similar to the Vassalize war goal, here's what happens on a Status Quo:

All systems fully occupied by the attacker will be turned into a subject of the attacker. The defender keeps their empire capital regardless of occupation.

What you're describing sounds perfectly in line with that.

aaaah right. i forgot about that cause i rarely took vassals since it was so hard to be "Superior" to empires on harder difficulties or using StarNet, at least not before someone else snagged them first. so i guess Bring into the Fold is like a really buffed Vassalize

They aren't your vassals

When I Status Quoed a bring into the fold war it was like an ideology war, the split off empire immediately became a vassal of the empire I was trying to bring into the fold.

You can't even have vassals if you have Bring Into Fold wargoal available, since that means you're a scion, and only independent nations can have vassals.

isnt it something unique to "Become the Crisis"?:

edit, i tried again to use bring into the fold against another big empire that attacked me and after i achieved the war goal one of my other vassals declare a secession war against me with all my tributaries and vassals against me including the new one I just conquered with my fleets in their territory lol. fucked

I loaded a previous save and tried to get a status quo so I would get part of their territory as a vassal instead to avoid triggering the secession and I can nothing except open borders.

No.

"Bring Into Fold" is a CB you get when you use the Scion Origin, in which you start as a vassal to a Fallen Empire. This CB allows you to make other empire into vassals of your overlord.

Then there's another, newer, CB also called "Bring Into Fold" which works exactly like Vassalize, only difference being the justification you need to need: "Vassalize" requires a rejected offer to be vassalized diplomatically, and "Bring Into Fold" requires the Become the Crisis AP.

So your version of "Bring Into Fold" actually works exactly like Vassalize: fully occupied systems (minus the capital) will become a new empire and a vassal of yours on a Status Quo peace.

thanks i figured it out - at some point the enemy empire did synthetic ascension, thus I was no loner to Bring them in the Fold and it defaulted to "open borders" with a status quo victory. before that I was able to carve off a vassal with status quo. I guess its because I'm a hive mind? dont see why i cant vassalize them anyway though, it wont be a problem unless I integrate them (I presume I could vassalize the bioempires even before I had the Assimilation option, meaning they would be purged or become livestock once they joined my crusade lol)

its too bad i over-wrote the save game from right before I won (achieve war goal) against that empire the first time, several years after they did synthetic ascension, and see what was going on with those pops right before another of my vassals declared a secession war on me. but it seemed like it was almost instantaneous
