So.. someone from Canada tried to hack my forum account

Hey,

I received an email yesterday about someone from Canada, Ontario, Georgetown (ip 24.157.81.210) using a wrong password 5 times to try to acces my account.
I don't know what a person could accomplish by hacking my forum account, but obviously I changed my password ASAP.

So, eh, can such person actually achieve something by hacking my account? I don't think so, right?

Err, I'm a little bit worried to say the least..

If you take a look at the general forum, there have been a lot of spam threads the last days; there actually even is one right now - Apple just hired the man behind the best camera.
It appears though that these threads only pop up in the general forum; I seem to remember something about new users without games registered being restricted about where they can post, so perhaps they cannot post/start threads anywhere else. If that is true it would make sense to hack forum accounts, so that they can spam ugg boots all over the forum.
It could of course also be a pirate wanting to gain access to tech support or the mod forums.

Probably not a major issue.
If you are not in a beta or have other special access, the worst they could do is post some ads and get banned, you could then contact us and explain the situation.

If you are worried about it, always a good idea to change your password every once and a while anyway.

Let me know if it happens again and I will dig into it.

Also, could be halfways innocent. Frequently after years away from this forum I will try to login with some other username I frequently use; fortunately for me none of them are, AFAIK, used by anyone else (IE, all of my usernames are 100% unique) but I could see someone other than you using the username rockett and thinking they had an account here as well.

Or it could be suspicious *shrug* I'm not a techie.

It could also be someone with similar username who just made typo.
