I just watched the first two episodes of this youtube series and I see that the Timurid's start out with 20k more troops. I that because if the Cossacks DLC?
If this is the case then I know why I am doing so hard in winning wars.

If this is the case then I know why I am doing so hard in winning wars.

Like I said days ago, I really think Cossacks is basically essential for the horde factions... I haven't watched the video, I don't think he got free troops per say... but he probably did use a Cossack feature to raise troops from the Tribes. This isn't totally free because he has to assign land to Tribes to maintain their loyalty, which increases local autonomy and reduces his income... but it's still a good deal.

I looked again closely and he is certainly starting out with 46k troops and I do only with 36k. He also has an advantage with the cossack features. I only think I don't get is, he spends so much MP on coring and reducing WE, I don't get how he can not become far behind in tech later on. Sadly I have not the time to watch 25 episodes with 22min each. Can you explain this to me? I find it really hard to expand in a reasonable manor and don't fall behind technology wise.
One thing I learned, though, reducing autonomy in revolting provinces is a good idea.

Hmmm it would seem a bit odd to me if DLCs actually changed the starting circumstances of a country. I was pretty sure they are tied to game version (I assume you're on 1.18). For example in 1.19 France is going to start off with 2 more provinces under English control. I maybe wrong though.

And I am not a horde expert or Timurid expert, but I think the answer to your question is again "Cossacks". Cossacks allows hordes to raze provinces for MPs. i.e. when a horde faction like Timurids take a province in a peace deal, they can burn down its development in return for gaining MPs. This essentially allows you to trade future income for MPs now, which will help you to keep pace with technology. I guess he may also have conquered westwards to obtain Institutions sooner, and thus keep his tech cost low.

He is playing before 1.18, two month old stream, and I play with 1.18.4.

Besides Timurid's I mostly play with Portugal, so Mare Nostrum would be a good idea I think. Furthermore 5,09€ is not very much.

I must been an before 1.18 thing. Because with Cossacks I still have 36k troops. Wait what... I have now 37k troops... odd.

I guess it's not essential. The Great Powers mechanic is quite nice (and relevant for you because Timurids are a Great Power at the start of the game), but not massively game changing. Queens and leader traits also add nice flavour, but again, not essential. I'm not sure if disinherit heir and abdicate throne are DLC features or included in the base game, but if that's also in the DLC, it's also nice to have.

Basically a lot of stuff that's nice to have, but not critical to your campaign.

Thx for the info. I stay with my newly acquired DLCs for now and learn those mechanics. Since ROM is not on sale a don't have to worry.
Have to dig in the wiki for the estates thing.

Holy ****! Cossacks DLC does matter a lot. I doing so much better now and things go much much easier.

Yeah playing Hordes without Cossacks is a bit like playing East Asian countries without Common Sense and just waiting for Institutions to spread all the way from Europe.

Now warfare is a bliss one problem is left. How do I develop. Rating is the key but how does this work an on which provinces. Should I conquer steppe regions to raze it?
Horde unity is going down slowly and I don't know how to prevent this. How to I loot and raze evocatively.

Like I said, I am no horde expert... so I don't know which provinces you should raze, which you should spare and work on.

When you say "develop", do you mean developing provinces with MPs? If so as a non-European country you should pretty much never develop anything except to spawn an institution. If you plan to keep pace on tech by developing institutions, then look for a cluster of farmland provinces (development cost reduction), preferably with ports and somewhere in the heart of your empire so the institution spreads rapidly.

For Ming, I use the Hangzhou area, but I never played Timurids, so I'm not sure if you got something suitable.

Edit: To clarify when I say "cluster", I don't mean you should develop multiple provinces at once. I just mean planning ahead, if you intend to develop institutions, you should focus your development provinces in one area, so the institution spread can cover your economic core asap so you can embrace it asap.

No I meant technology development. Since I spend much adm points on conquering I lack behind this technology and have no ideas. I think I should continue to watch the YouTube series I mentioned above.
