if i were to guess, i would say that the number of provinces contained on the entier map (not including sea zones) must be in the 1000's. any chance anyone have an actual number?

The land provinces in EU2 were almost a thousand, so I suspect you need to triple that number to get the Victoria provinces. :)

Edit: sorry, didn't see that post. Not such a bad guess then...

This concerns me somewhat... I'm sure Paradox will do a fine job, but that's a whole lot of provinces to manage. I'm afraid that, since the main point of the game seems to be improvement of one's provinces, things will get a little too micromanaged.

Wondering if Patric can comment on this?

As far as I understand the provinces are mainly for military purposes. Economic and micromanagement and annexations will be done via "regions" a new level between nation and province. So your nation may have 30 provinces but only 4 regions to mess with. At least that is how I understand it.

For example, The United States will get 1 region for each State but inside each state will be several provinces.

Luckily you don't have to manage all of those yourself as most will belong to other countries unless you conquer a lot of them (hard to do) and then you have yourself to blame :p

That seems difficult to me.

Remember after 1870 Germany annexed French Alsace / Moselle, which is 3 provinces in Victoria. That would mean 3 province regions. At this cost there's no need for the "region" level, is there ?

Oh, sure. I hear that. But won't, say, Russia be pretty tough to manage? Just glancing at that old screenshot on the German publisher's page made my eyes cross.

from the screeny of the csa "regions" I didn't have the impression that a region is somewhere between the nation and the province,

or this would main the total amount of provinces to the csa would be higher then I would dare to imagine

1614 in EUII with a bunch of fillers and 2201 with one filler in HoI according to my province files.

Can't wait for Victoria, for some reason nobody likes it when I try to unite Italy in EUII. I should switch out the sound track for that cops bad boys song. :p

New Mexico should have been carved up so that the Lone Star Republic could take Sante Fe and have the original vision of how the state should look not the modern version. Who needs debt reduction. :p

I wouldn't worry. Many are probably thinking that fool only has EUII and HoI installed. An obvious poser. :D

I would assume that those 3 provinces make up a single region.
