even if it's 24 bit to begin with, I think the game automatically converts it to 8 bit anyways.

I don't think so, at least not in the Nordic version.

yeah I was wrong, he was right.

There is one problem with 24bit flags, they don't fade when under fog of war. There is no reason not to have 24bit shields though, save size

I've noticed that they refuse to fade, and we're (AoN team) now transforming the rest of the flags to 24-bit for consistency. It would look silly with half of the flags fading, the rest not...
