Game chrashes every time i tab out and in again and ingame it's full of bugs, check the bug report forum. This patch seems like an alpha version released too early without proper time and resources done on testing. Wish more time was spent on playthrough testing instead of live video release parties. What have I payed for? Put it into the shelf and wait a month until this "beta" period is over and all the new bugs are fixed? I dont like buying an unfinished product. Apart from that I love the new patch.

Okay, especially for you I decided to examine 41 bug reports from subforum.

1) Failed Reports

- A guy reports as bug unability to name army due to his error
- A guy reports non having Wester units on Westernization, not knowing this is intentional
- A guy reports as bug mechanic existing since pre - AOW
- A guy reports as a bug warleader mechanic, not knowing this is intentional
- A guy reports as a bug vassal relations cap, not knowing this is intentional
- A guy reports as a bug unability to annex OPM not knowing this is intentional in new peace mechanics
- A guy reports as a bug Guns Drums and Steel replacing old songs not knowing this is intentional
- A guy reports as a bug the feature of army templates not knowing how they are supposed to work
- A guy reports as a bug grammatical/cultural aspects of Chinese provinces
- A guy reports as a bug holy wars not knowing how they always worked - posted 2 times
- A guy reports as a bug force limit due to him not understanding how it is counted
- A guy wants Falalan remix aded to Guns Drum and Steel :D
- A gur reports as a bug supply range stuff which existed pre - AOW
- A guy reports as a bug three remote Asian cultures being grammatically incorrect due to plural form @_@

- Minor bug: Unit sprites for Siberian four tribes and Ainu are Western
- Minor bug: Salish Shoshone
- Minor event unrest bug
- Minor bug: Ottoman rebels appear in Brazil
- Minor bug: papal influence can't buy stability
- Minor bug: in some cases the game UI shows 1000x production instead of x production for one month
- Minor bug: vassal evaluation on income overview
- Graphic error with rebels
- Cardinals count bug
- Minor bug: post battle report sometimes shows generic unit sprties when it shouldn't
- Extremely minor bug: marches shown as independent nations on main menu world map
- Extremely minor bug: Nobles Demand Rights for Ming is reduntant events due to no autonomy change allowed


6 significant bugs and a dozen of small so far. Possible to fix in two hotfixes or one patch. Definitely not enough to call a game 'bugfest' - this name is reserved for better cases.

I didn't have a single bug or performance problem.

Also, try releasing such giant update without bugs. Come on, go and design it, I have some experience with IT and it is impossible :p
Hey it's easy. Just put "no bugs" into the requirements spec. That'll also save time on unit tests etc - because you won't have to write them any more.

Then all you have to do when accused of having bugs is to say, impossible, WAD, feature. This of course is just a logically necessary consequence of my own design methodology, principle 7: "the solution to every putative problem is to redefine it as a solution". (I confess I was inspired by modern politics).

If that doesn't work, just remind them of principle 1 of the SR999 Methodology: "users must be eliminated at the design stage"

I've encountered only two issues so far and one of them has been in EU4 for ages as far as I know, CTD in "resetting gamestate" after quitting to main menu.

The other one was, when my master (Denmark) declared war to reclaim my (Sweden) claims, but instead of giving them to me the Danes took the province for themselves resulting in a lone Danish enclave in Kexholm.

FPS/Lag issues listed as a smaller bug? :D

I removed it from the list as this is performance problem, not bug :p


My point is, half of these bug reports are wrong/redundant and while remaining bugs need hotfixes/a patch are in no way enough to whine like OP and exaggerate like AOW was a sim-city like disaster. Personally I had not a single problem, for example.

I agree that the amount of bugs is relatively small for such a big release, although I'll never agree with the current standard in the gaming business where some bugs seem to be the norm. The performance problems are a shame though. It seems to be hard for them to pinpoint the exact problems and it's affecting quite a few people.

Well, played few hours as Muscovy and encountered annoying rebel bug, when rebels from occupied province were patriots. War ended more than decade ago, another war with Novgorod followed, but friendly stack of Russian patriots stays in Kholm, happily doing nothing.

And I second CTD due to tab-switching from saved games interface/nation selection.

Did I say it did?

Look, it's fine to complain about the bugs that do exist. But getting hysterical about it, as if it's something new, or worse than or even merely as bad as what we've seen many times before, is unjustified. "Less of a mess than last time" is a lot better than "just as bad as last time", and we should recognize that paradox has managed to achieve that this time.

I cant play a proper multiplayer game since 1.8, I think thats a major bug.

That's true. I don't care about multiplayer, so I haven't been paying much attention to bugs that affect it. Seems like there's major MP problems on every new release, which is pretty unacceptable.

There is no reason to be mad. Your life support systems aren't in jeopardy. I'm a fan, and I appreciate the complexity of putting out big releases. Given the nature and quantity of the bugs, and the fact that I only have one life, I'll just find other things to do for a week or so while PI works out the kinks. If you're willing to suffer setbacks due to, say, broken relations when you form a formable nation, keep playing. Your bug reports will help PI find and fix issues. If you're a slacker like me, find a few bugs, report em, and take a rest for a while.

The performance problems are a shame though. It seems to be hard for them to pinpoint the exact problems and it's affecting quite a few people.
Yeah, I don't know the numbers of percentages. I'm fine, but I can see people being bent out of shape about that one.

Most of the rest is noise and some of them are already fixed anyway (friendly patriot rebels, at least some MP crashes).
