So Manchukuo has literally no historical focus end path

I originally posted about this in the Manchukuo dev diary, but got no reply. So here's another attempt.

rJFnCbR.png

The highlighted bit is supposed to be Manchukuo's "historical" focus tree's end path. Except it's not historical, or even remotely plausible. Basically you remain loyal to the Japanese and get them to give you all of China while as a puppet. This would never have happened.

The whole reason Japan had so many various little puppets in China, many of which aren't represented in the game, was to keep the Chinese divided and weak. Divide and conquer is so effective a policy that it harks back to ancient Rome. Furthermore, there already existed a Japanese puppet government of China, the Reformed Government of the Republic of China, which to my understanding will not really be represented in WtT unless Japan wins the Second Sino-Japanese War.

I get that the point of the game is to have fun, and in SP you might be rather limited if you forever remain confined to Manchuria. But to not have a historical end-path at all seems a bit too much. And not to mention the AI will always end up doing these focuses since they are not mutually exclusive with an actually historical path.

Could PDX consider revising the historical path for Manchukuo in a future patch?

Does Japan HAVE to give Manchukuo all of China? Thats what Manchukuo wants but they don't necessarily get that. Japan can probably say no. We have to wait for patch to see what options Japan gets and what AI does with them.

Seems to me that Paradox are taking HOI4 in a casual arcadey direction. Each successive DLC seems to reinforce this. If this is indeed what the market is asking for then well I guess Im the odd one out - which is fine I can understand that but I dont envisage personally buying any HOI4 DLC for the foreseeable future. So many features and mechanics remain half done/broken.

EDIT: Actually just saw the announcement regarding international womens day. SJW DLC - even free is just too much for me. Im out.

What exactly is the historical path then?
The "friendly with the Japanese one". If I get this right, the end of the historical path just happens to be in the middle of a branch instead of the end.

I don't think there is a quicker way to disqualify yourself from a discussion than using alt-right vocabulary...
SJW is not an Alt-right term.
However, the freelc has nothing SJW about it. Adding historical women (there were 2 discussed iirc) and a modifier for working women (which undeniably happened) isn't in any way unreasonable.

I would say using SJW as a pejorative is a bit of a marker of alt-right association. But... we should probably not go down this rabbit hole on these forums.

And I completely 100% agree with you there is nothing in this dlc that could be construed as unreasonable.

I am very grateful this community has high standards for toxicity and that the kind of people who use the term "SJW" aren't put up with here. There are plenty of dark corners of the internet for them to vent their insecurities and lies to each other and this community isn't one of them.

Little tidbits of flavor and historically accurate content are always fun and make the game a lot more immersive in my opinion. I'm very happy these details were included. From a gameplay standpoint the workforce option is a very useful (and historically accurate) way to offset the drawbacks of total economic mobilization as well!

Don't see why the discussion shifted to this from talking about Manchuko. Additionally I don't see why you guy need to all say the same thing 6 times, we got it the first 3 times at this point you all sound like a broken record. Not to mention the fact that his somewhat accurate points about how HOI4 is pretty arcadey and becoming more so with every update are just tossed out because he's apparently "Alt-Right".

The meat of his post was concern that Manchukuo's historical path in-game was to go the route of getting all of China to itself. Correct? But in reality that is not the historical path for Manchukuo in game, as Podcat stated.

Unless there's a bug in the code and Manchukuo goes down that route anyway, I'm not sure there's much more to discuss on that subject. But it seems at this moment that the intended route the Devs want for historical AI Manchukuo is more in line with the actual history of the war.

So the National Defense State is the Historical Path?
