Well the new dev diary was just released and it didn't tell us anything new about what the next DLC could be... but it did imply what it wont be.

I am still bound by an NDA so I can not tell you exactly what we are doing right now, but I guarantee that it is something REALLY exciting that I am really looking forward to play. I know that a lot of you have been wanting this as well (this is where 10 new "Are they doing China?" threads will quote me).

So since he's bound by an NDA it's likely he wouldn't have been allowed to make this joke if it was china. We know from both Magnus and Groogy it's something big, exciting, and likely requested often on the forum.

So what can it be? Here's a list of popular suggestions followed by a list of things the devs have said they want to do.

So what would a cadet branch DLC even entail? I'll confess that I barely even know what a cadet branch means. Budding dynasties off the old one I guess? Seems pretty thin to build a paid DLC around.

I'd be willing to bet that it's something focused on expanding "vanilla" content, i.e. for christian feudal realms. I suppose cadet branches could be a part of that, though.

They wouldn't be the only part of the dlc, just something that's likely to come.

There was a thread similar to this one not too long ago. As I had said in that thread I would honestly put my money on something minor, probably event driven like a SoA or WoL. Specifically I would say Myths and Legends, a non-Christian SoA, or maybe something for the late game since we know it isn't going to expand the map. Come Christmas or so I'd put my money on something big like China.

Norse become even stronger than current Nomads. Balance is restored to the force.

Theocracies(Although Devs said that they were not going to introduce them)
Time line expansion: back or forward. Back would most likely be to just after Muhammad's death. (however, though this may be implemented, it would probably enter with SE Asia and Indonesia, so... )
More start dates between Charlie, Old Gods and 1066.

So I'm thinking Cadet Branches. Which is brilliant, because your dynastic tree really does bog down when there are 2000+ members on it.

EDIT: I forgot: Naval stuff possibly

How are they going to expand that to be worth the price of a full expansion, though?
I don't know. Look at SoA? what did they introduce? A general flesh out of several things people had been wanting. I suspect that's what this one will be like.

With the devs saying they want to implement things like naval battles and cadet lines, I wouldn't be surprised to see a late game dlc being released featuring the HYW, the Wars of the Roses, with new unit types signaling the introduction of gunpowder. Trade could be improved somewhat with addition of banking which will give the devs the perfect cover to make inland republics playable.

We need playable Pope, and Papal politics. That might be too controversial, though.

A Pope that doesn't do too much except rule about consanguinity might be all we can expect.

If fatwa and castration causes performance problems, do we truly want a vigorous Papacy over all of Catholicism?
