Thinking about the world around this time, I see no reason to have the start date here. The Abbasids would be an abomination beyond reckoning.
@zeress: Really, as long as it's a fun game for enough people that buy it, it all works out. Many other developers will and have balked at having even the complexity of CK2 or EU4 in their games.
Not going to argue with that. I sincerely hope that due to the nature of the DLC, and the large blobs that exist, there will be a redoing of Empire level mechanics/decisions/events. Frankly, I would be astonished if this DLC doesn't include that if nothing else.
Perhaps I went to far, but the point we've seen what people mean when they cry out for more depth in mods. And that depth amounts to many restrictions upon the player and unnecessarily taking control of many elements away from the player. That type of game only appeals to a small minority."with all due respect" and then a personal and uncalled for attack on his work? yeah... what a wonderful argument.
Thanks for giving me something a little more substantial to chew on, and I apologize I promise I wasn't trying to willfully misunderstand you. Fibonacci, and the fall of Cordoba, are both from the 13th century, we're really not advancing this to the early middle ages at all. On trade - it's always powerful, but that book keeping and methods of financing trade were revolutionized with the reintroduction of classical texts during this time period is what I'm getting at. I'll look into those population figures, but clearly the plague is on its way later in the game largely because of a shift to more urban life in Renaissance period, and the plague is going to kill so many people because of the infrastructure that doesn't yet exist in these urban centers.
As a semantic reminder of my original point - the midpoint of the game is 1160. Fibonacci is still another 40 years away. My point was that the majority of the game takes place in the Dark Ages.
ohgodnoWhat Germanic ones? I'm pretty sure all the Saxons who will be pagan are getting the Norse religion.
I did, once. Though I did mod so much as to give Roman culture a retinue unit. But other than that all vanilla. What we need is more late game focus and not early game. I hope this dlc will bring some reasons to continue to play after 200 years. I wonder how many people finished the game from the TOG startdate to the end without mods or using cheats.

That would really, really be lazy of paradox. I'd much rather get a flavorless Saxon religion with no real features aside from a yearly festival. You know, like the other pagan religions.
The Norse tooltip even says it's the Germanic religion native to Scandinavia.
ohgodno
That is so wrong on so many levels.
It's just about as bad as the Suomenusko blob.
Maybe it would be better if they split off Germanic in to it's own category the way christian is. That way we could have different branches of Germanic paganism in game without them being heresies of each other. What Germanic ones? I also added the informations that Euclid's Elements were translated into latin around 1120. And book keeping was used in the middle ages too (not the early middle ages). The Early Middle Ages I would accept as dark ages. But nit the middle ages after 1100/1200. For me the maintime of the game is still 1066-1453. And the abacus was likely used the whole middle ages.
Oh goodness, it seems this is legit, well I hope the new bookmark is just A feature, not THE feature, as every one else I suppose.
Boy I love CK so much, this better not make the game any easier that it has already become.
We really should have that for *every paganism*.Maybe it would be better if they split off Germanic in to it's own category the way christian is. That way we could have different branches of Germanic paganism in game without them being heresies of each other.
I think the "Beginning of the Viking Age" hints that the super-conquest abilities of the Norse will only be unlocked after a certain date/set of circumstances.
Well if its trully 769 then that means a whole heaping helping of new Christian (Mainly Catholic) heresies! Adoptionist, Arianism, Donatism, Pelagianism, and who knows what else. Finally the Catholic Blob of doom can be shrunk down a bit and give at least Spain and Albion a chance at having something other than the Pope to lord over them.
