Wormhole Empires feel more like WH40K Warp Space Drives. It'd actually be funny if one End Game Crisis tech about experimental wormhole tech led to opening up wormholes to another dimension (the Warp) and letting daemons pour through.
These were retconned out in the 7th edition codex as far as I can tell. They use the dolmen gates to travel. They are more or less like wormhole stations, except they are inside the webways.

They use inertialess drives which basically let them fuck with physics to instantly jump to infinite speed now. Which is what the used pre-wardex.
Nope.I think it's the other way around. Originally they had the inertialess dives, but since the concept did not fit the fluff they changed it to the dolmen gates.
Nope.
It was inertialess drives -> Dolmen Gates and implied Inertialess Drives -> Inertialess Drives with Dolem gates in the background.
Inertialess drive sounds a bit like what mass effect doI just opened the 7th edition necron codex and I can't find any mention of the inertialess drive. All it mentions is the dolmen gates.
It's possible but it would almost certainly be a hassle resource wise because it'd have to check for the event literally every time ships moved between systems.Question: With the recent mod thing that came in do you think it's possible to have events trigger based on your fleet "warping" or 'hyperspacing" or wherever? If so I think it might be fairly simple for some clever cog to put in an event where every time you FTL you have a chance of a Lost in the Warp style situation.
Oh are the HAK HAK HAK aliens related to Warp travel? Cause then that's OBVIOUSLY the best way to get around!
The Imperium uses warp drives. It's relatively slow just like in WH40K. Movement is not limited, if you have a good navigator you can jump to anywhere in a given radius.
The Necrons use wormhole because their ships "teleport" almost instantly.
Actually the 'Mugani? Hak Hak Hak!' are limited to Jump Drives, the dangerous FTL tech. As far as we know none of the basic techs are dangerous.I believe they said it was specific to wormhole travel.

That video is out of date. On the Blorg stream and in the 'End Game Disasters' Dev Diary they confirmed that the Jump Drive tech was the one which could cause inter-dimensional aliens to assault you. From 3:10
Totally serious and not time-wasting question I am posting here!
So I'm going to play the Imperium of Man for at least my first game and I was looking at the FTL methods. On the one hand, Warp drives seem functionally the same as in the Warhammer universe, however there's isn't really that alternate dimension you go through. That seems closer to the Wormhole method of travel.
So basically, should I stick to functional relevance or go for the terrors of the Wormholes?![]()
Hyperdrive is probably the best way to simulate it.
40k's warp is not in the game. Or maybe the Yump Drive goes there, but I think it's more like Eclipse Phase. Anyway, if you really want 40k you'll have to wait for a mod.Totally serious and not time-wasting question I am posting here!

On the other hand, they're not always predictable, and they do better in warp lanes. My opinion:

There is only one astronomicon, which was made by the Emperor himself and requires a godlike psyker plus the sacrifice of thousands of other psykers daily. What's more, it's a beacon. You don't have to go to Holy Terra and back every time you want to get somewhere.Wormhole travel works alright if you presume the stations are like the Astronomicon
It's not much similar.Inertialess drive sounds a bit like what mass effect do
