So is the next patch going to break saves again?

So with the recent announcement of regions im super hyped for the next patch. However in 1.12 I had a pretty decent Austria game that I was chipping away at and just as it was really starting to pick up and as I was about to reform the hre completely 1.13 dropped and broke my saves. So just a quick answer to whether saves will be broken will determine whether I actually start playing the game again or wait tell the patch.

The patch doesn't seem to be coming soon, so you probably have time for a game regardless of save breaking. Have you tried loading your save in 1.12?

As a general rule I expect a patch with a DLC to break my saves and a patch without to not break saves. 1.13 was obviously an exception to that.

If you start a game and are still going when 1.14 comes out, in steam go to the game's properties and under the beta tab choose 1.13. It will let you keep playing in the current patch and achievements will still be reachable if that's your thing.

Also, I don't get the impression 1.14 is going to be around for awhile yet, so there's probably plenty of time for another game in between.

We aim to make them compatible, but we can't always guarantee it. Issues with cloud saves in particular can be extremely problematic to debug. You can always continue your game in the previous version via steam betas though.
