I knew I was in for some punishment starting off as the duchy of Brittany. Knowing full well that a aztec invasion could end my days, but a challenging game is a good one.
I worked hard to give myself a good foothold to prepare for the invasion.
By the time the Aztecs came I held the following titles, in order of which I formed them.
Kingdom of Brittany
Kingdom of Wales
Kingdom of Ireland
Kingdom of Galica
Kingdom of Leon
Kingdom of Portugal
Kingdom of Castille
Kingdom of Jerusalem
Being a crusader I had very could standings with the church and a heap of piety for holy orders.
Then the Aztec's came.
I thought with everything I had gained and being strong allies with HRE and France, I might stand a chance if they invade me.
They invaded Scotland first, then the second wave hit England. I would have preferred they hit one of my lands since I had such powerful friends but I had to make do.
Both Scotland and England had to deal with over 100k worth of doomstacks. There was no way I could win. The most I could raise myself was around 50k and the Aztec's sitting on 200k in total..
But I decided to hit them first before they got a foothold on England and Scotland. I tired to help the north first, but the Aztec took that too quickly before I could rally all my men. Having Kingdoms split all over the place is hard to manage, especially sending forces all the way from Jerusalem.
I immediately went to the Aid of England.
I had a plan. I had 50k troops + I could raise all 3 holy orders giving me over 70k worth.
I setup my ships near the county of Isle of Man.
I used a 15k army sieging the Island of Man to bait the Aztec's into crossing the water to get to me - Giving me massive defensive bonus. Each time they hit, I would reinforce them with the rest of my army sitting in my ships. Using this technique seems like cheating, but no more than the AI being allowed to stack 100k troops for no attrition.... So one cheat counters the other.
Eventually my troops all died as the Aztec hit them constantly. But I did kill a good 70-100k worth in this first hit.
The Aztec's successfully took England.
I needed to lick my wounds, and let my levies refresh. So I was just sitting back waiting for the Aztec's to either hit Whales or Ireland. Then I could call HRE and france to help.
But this didn't happen
While waiting the pope called a crusade for England. WHICH at first made me so happy. I joined the war, but to my dismay it was myself and a few dukes plus the pope only. NO OTHER CATHOLIC RULER!!!@!@!.... is this a bug??? I thought that France or the HRE would join... but they never did.
Anyway I raised my army again - and after a long drawn out fight using careful moves, and placement of troops to snipe low amount of forces I ended up destroying the Aztec's army.
So the Aztec's Invaded in the year 1255
I sent them packing in 1265...
I thought this was to be a pretty good feat
Anyone else able to totally stop the Aztec's in their tracks?
