It sounds like it would be a fun game to play, but how would I make it happen?

What are the requirements for the event to fire? I remember hearing something about Hungary needing to exist as an independent nation, but I'm not sure if it meant as a truly independent nation or a satellite of Austria, and I'm sure that there are other requirements.

It requires for Prussia to accept the Frankfurt Assembly Proposal(event 4615),
if Hungary is independent, then Austria gets an event allowing them to choose to join Germany, or simply refuse.

Hold on... :confused:
I've never done it myself, but the thread in which I first saw this news mentioned that the unification event required the Popular Unification. Other than that, the independent Hungary is the same.

I expect it itsn't the Frankfurt Assembly Proposal, because then you could, as Prussia, simply purchase a Slovak majority territory in Austria (which when granted as a setallite forms Hungary), release it, accept the Frankfurt Proposal, and get all of Austria as well. This sounds way, way, way too easy, IMHO.

Then again, I could be completely wrong. Sorry, but I just wanted to bring it up.

Ok, I found the code itself: this is from Austria's event file.

###########################
# Popular Unification of Germany
###########################
event = {
id = 1509
random = no
country = AUS

trigger = {
event = 4612
exists = HUN
exists = GER
NOT = { war = { country = GER country = AUS } }
}

name = "EVT_1509_NAME"
desc = "EVT_1509_DESC"
style = 0

date = { day = 4 month = january year = 1836 }
offset = 30
deathdate = { day = 30 month = april year = 1852 }

action_a = {
name = "ACCEPT_END" # Accept [Inherited by GER]
command = { type = surrender which = GER }
}
action_b = {
name = "REFUSE" # Refuse
command = { }
}
}

So, in other words, it is the Popular Unification event, and Hungary must exist. Oh and also, the code says "inherited:, so I guess that means you don't get badboy from Austria, either(!)

Mph, my bad, its the Popular Unification(4612) not Frankfurt,this one requires all of Germany (including Austria and Prussia)to be something other than a monarchy.

And the popular unification event requires all the minors to be democracies?

So, if I accept the Frankfurt Assembly (as Prussia), then, assuming Hungary exists and all the minors are democracies, Austria will (might?) get an event allowing making them part of Germany?

No, do not accept the Frankfurt Assembly if you want Popular Unification. There is no corresponding event to the PRU Popular Unification in the GER file.

You just need to ensure, as Prussia, that every country in Germany is not a monarchy at some point between January 15, 1836 and December 30, 1851. It can be any form of government, so long as it isn't a monarchy.

Erm, no, disregard my last post, Frankfurt Assembly has nothing to do with this, and no, all of Germany (minors included) only has to be something else than a monarchy, heck they could all be proletariant dictatorships and it would still fire.But yes, Hungary must exist.

It's not that hard to actually get the popular unification, just annex all the minors that aren't constitutional monarchies or democracies. Austria starts as a con. monarchy so that's not a problem (as long as they don't try to stay monarchy when their 1848 event hits).
Of course this path will bring you loads of BadBoy points at least in 1.02. If they change it so that inheriting by event gives you no Badboy, this strategy will be pretty good since you can just re-release the German minors as satellites reducing your badboy and they even take over your government style. Now all you have to do is buy one province in Austria and release Hungary ;)

I beleive it is. Here is the trigger line for Austria and its the same for all the minors and prussia as well.

NOT = { constitution = { country = AUS type = monarchy }

That's interesting, becasue it means that Constitutional Monarchy is the best government for your German minors to have, if you're playing as Prussia. You can go either Popular Unification or Conservative Empire, and Constitutional Monarchy fits into both those plans.

I have a quick question:

As Prussia, it says that I'm a monarchy. If I grant voting rights to the wealthy, it still says that I'm a monarchy. Do I count as a Constitutional Monarchy or do I need to hold an election or something? Universal Voting, perhaps?
