So I was just attending to my demanse, investing about 800 gold to ensure my vassals fear me. Suddenly the shield above my capital becomes the French shield. Unfortunately I did not get elected to be king of France. No I became king of Austrasia and my 4k troop demense was seized by the king of France and I was left with a single 400 troop county and no claim to my old land. I hate how this game just fucks you sometimes. Oh and France still owns two thirds of Austrasia.

Get good.
Just because you play doesn't mean you always win. Get used to it.

It's spelled "capital", not "capitol", by the way.

There is a difference between loosing because your dynasty died out and loosing because you inherited a kingdom you have no land in while the game takes away all your provinces of any value.

I'm a little confused by this, why did you lose land when you inherited the kingdom title?

I'm assuming that you were a duke in France before becoming king? Then your old land should still be controlled by you.

That's why I'm irritated. I was the duke of Orleans with some land in Aquitaine before I suddenly lost everything to become the king of Austrasia. France doesn't event have title revocation.

If that's the case, I was lucky to not inherit Germany in my game in which most of my lands are in Austrasia. Phew...

Some of those things should be made clearer and/or revised. It is indeed frustrating.

Sometimes they should, if you agree - eg the Earl(?) of Richmond gave it up in order to become King of Castille. That should only happen if you agree to swap, high Crown authority (or equivalent) and it's not far away/not continuously attached.

This is why double vassalage needs to be a thing. Those territories shouldn't leave the kingdom, but that doesn't mean they should stop being yours.
I think there should be a subjugation for de jure vassals. So in this case i could keep Orleans as Austrasia and France could de jure claim the territory back but if I gave the land to a vassal they should be able to claim that vassal as there own in a war.
