So how many of you are only going to play as humans?

I'd rather play as a race of intelligent Space Orcs if we're going 40K. But I'm thinking of Reptilians aiming to enslave Humanity and force the pesky manthings to buy lizard goods. Politicians will be replaced by disguised representatives, elections rigged, and the Media controlled.

Sure I'll play humans. Will I normally play them or play them first? No idea. I'll go through the different portraits untill one grabs my imagination and then make up the traits etc to go with it based on what the image conjures up in my imagination.

Humans, not even once. Maybe a few times to purge Xenos in the inevitable W40K mod. I'm not really xenophobic. I just like bacon and not being forced to believe in someone else's imaginary friend. For the record I don't condone genocide. Just the slaughter of all non-infants and the raising of the infants to be productive members of the primary culture. This is only a last resort in case more lenient measures don't work (nuking of major cities, decimation, etc).

I usually find playing as humans in these kinds of games boring, its not exciting enough. And its even worse in RPGs where humans almost always are jack of all trades, masters of none. I prefer having clear strenghts to build on and clear weaknesses to try and fix.

I will start with humans for sure, and maybe later I will play with a Cthulhu looking race, in an attempt to roleplay being the galactic top threat, but human always ftw. I'm human after all.

I don't like playing as humans if there are any other options available, we're just so passe. But that goes right out the window if we get extra content.

I am don't know, it kind of depends on the game. In one game space game I won't ever play as a human, in another I might only play as a human. It completely depends on the atmospherics surrounding the race in question. In a game which allows me to customize my own race right down to graphics, I would create my own.

To be fair, I'm probably going to play the first game as human because 1) all races in game are procedurally generated, but selecting humans will mean they aren't in pool of random races right?(I heard somewhere that they can still pop up as some kind of exception to random race thing xD Not sure if that is true) Plus it gives Star Trek esque feeling, I don't particularly like or dislike the show, but I do like the space exploration aspect of it. 2) I'm probably going to play default options in order before trying creating my own one.

After trying out both of human options, I'm probably not going to play them again. Unless Paradox releases cosmetic dlc only for humans(I'm bit afraid that might actually happen since even if people individually won't play as humans for most of time, statistically they will be most played one xD) and I somehow end up buying it(from sale or something as bundle probably) and then play it just so I wouldn't have wasted money xP

I'm thinking of a Pacifist, Spiritual Xenophile Avian first game (High-tech, slowly expanding with numerous lesser species protectorates and use of the Technological Enlightenment feature, watching empires' rise and fall around the galaxy), but I will probably play as Human (United Nations of Earth faction, in a Brave explorator / Nascent Empire trope) second or third.
