My current theory is that its "every month population dies, and if everyone dies before situation ends, event ends" but I've heard multiple people had that happen while trying to aid them and on first time I got event I on whim decided to watch and learn and they went down to whole "age of warlords" and survived pandemic. So is it possible event is somehow bugged that trying to aid them makes situation worse? The one time I did try to aid them situation almost finished before everyone died(last event I got was about whether you reveal yourself or put more resources into staying secret when they try to hunt the "demons")

I don't think the dev's have confirmed but multiple people have experienced that aiding the primitives accelerates the deaths, suggesting there is a bug that has swapped the outcomes.

I tried out watch and learn again and this time it was the spiritualist ethos story line(warlords is militarist) so yeah seems like aiding might be bugged since they didn't die on watch and learn this time either?

Once again proving the adage: never help anyone.

Just from casually browsing the game files, there is a 15% chance per month that a pop is killed and as the situation takes twice as long when you're helping, you're not really helping.

+1, same experience. It's tragic how many negative events can bring an end to those poor pre-ftl, but only if you're watching them. Schrodinger should've left his cat alone lol
