So im Germany its like 1900 i have 300 brigades worth of troops none can touch me i kick everyone in the teeth even if they all fight me. Unfortunately because even liberating a country gives infamy i have 80 infamy but idc theres no way anyone could take me on. But then BAM entire country revolts first as communists then the anachros decide to join them then a second wave of communists then the jacobins and i think some reactionaries joined in. I think the rebels should fight other rebels of different idealogies but thats a side note. How come everyone revolted? litterally i had all the reforms going on i was a HM governement so there were elections i hadnt lowered the workday from 14 yet but i doubt that would set it off is it cause i replaced the elected party a few times cause i didnt wanna deal with a planned economy? it just seems like i could have gotten more warning cause once the revolt happened my whole army joined in and then seeing i was weak litterally every country even the NETHERLANDS joined in kicking me in the teeth with a conatainment war and thats another thing i get that they add to the monthly infamy decrease but they really should take like 10 infamy or something off too cause the monthly decrease didnt matter cause every month another country would declare a containment war and Hungary who i destroyed austria for and set free declared 5 on me and this whole time i cant raise a single troop cause of the disarment so im useless again the waves of rebels that keep rising it was like a tantrum spiral out of dwarf fortress

Sorry, I just couldn't keep myself from posting that old vanilla screen of mine.

As for the topic - going high on badboy results in rapid cons gain for populace. And this leads to higher chances of them joining liberation/reform movements which eventually erupts into full rebellions.

At least Reactionaries have never actually revolted unlike those 3932 communist brigades. I went for a world conquest that time with Germany ended up with whole Europe, whole Africa, Russia, half of middle East and India as well as most of South America. Eventually gave up since it became insanely boring because of those endless revolts.

There are numerous reasons why they might revolt. Simply hover over their militancy in the population tab to see the sort of thing which increases it.
This. Check what causes your MIL to go up.
If it doesn't show any decent source: Did you enact unwanted reforms?

is it cause i replaced the elected party a few times cause i didnt wanna deal with a planned economy?
That probably angered them big time. They want to live under a party they elected, so it makes sense that they are upset when you changed it. It is your job to deal with the will of your people if you don't want a revolt, even if that will is a planned economy.
it just seems like i could have gotten more warning
You did. First, you saw rebel movements organizing in your country. Second, average militancy value is always displayed.

He said he was switching around parties, says it all. Plus high CON does its own bad as well.

Maybe you also have a high literacy rate in your country, which explains why they revolted against you in hopes of getting the 1 POP with 5% literacy rate away from the Government (hah, just kidding, don't take it personal :p).

And don't complain about this, just being beaten in a war after being #1 aggressor in the world shouldn't lower your infamy, other nations still view you as a serious threat, they should be beating on you until you're fractured back to the Medieval Age Germany and even further. Your rebels fudged you over because you did something wrong and didn't keep track of their militancy and other nations are simply doing their best to exploit this and beat the crap outta you. :) Makes sense to me.

Against containment wars, have you considered releasing satellites to decrease your infamy? Germany can release lots of minors that will eventually petition annexation back to Germany, and every one is worth -5 badboy. Also satellites are really eager to ally their puppet master, so at least you have some defense even if you can't raise any armies. I know this is a gamey tactic, so if you want to play "clean", probably better skip this one and just take the beating like a man :)

High infamy increases consciousness, so your people are probably really irritated unless you have really high percentage of clergymen everywhere and every possible reform. Also when you enacted reforms, did you always chose the most wanted one, because if you enact them in random order, everyone supporting more popular reform will just get more militancy. Also changing ruling party when having high consciousness is just asking for trouble...
