for the big day tomorrow?

I went all Napoleonic today.

First I read a couple of chapters in "Austerlitz 1805 - The fate of empires" by Ian Castle. Then I played a little bit of "Napoleon's Italian Campaign 1796" (NTW - heavily modded), and before I go to bed I will watch the classic "Waterloo" with Rod Steiger and Christopher Plummer.

The battle-scenes are still fantastic, and the thunder of cannons on my surround-sound system, can only be described as "awesome".

So yeah, I feel really pumped for tomorrow...

Yeah I watched Waterloo last night over popcorn and beer. I guess I have watched it eight times over the years. Steiger and Plummer were great in their roles. The other option was The Duelists.

Dude, you really know how to prepare for a game release! That sounds like an excellent preparation.

I think I'll play a lot of NTW tonight, and maybe read a little bit of literature from or about the Napoleonic Era. For me, though, the real preparation is in reading and studying the manual, guides, and dev diaries, which I have yet to do all the way through.

I was thinking about getting AGEOD's Napoleon's Campaigns to pass the time, but decided against it. Instead I got a book called Sword of France. Was planning on going to the beach to read it ... but it's too hot, so now I'm sitting here, refreshing the gamersgate site every few minutes, hoping for an early release.

I think this might be overkill to an extent, but I am currently (re-)reading War and Peace for the...third time I believe it is.

In addition to watching an old(ish?) Napoleon miniseries: Napoleon: the Call of War, which admittedly is only the first (and only) episode of it that I have...never had luck finding the others.

I quite enjoyed this TV Adapation of War and Peace. Unfortunately I left the DVD back at home, which is about 16.000km from where I am now.

But I got Waterloo with me. Guess I'll have to watch that one for the umpteenth time today. Not that I would mind in any way.
