I bought Crusader Kings from GamersGate the other day and kept the installation files as a backup. I went to run the installer again, to install the game on a different drive and it asked me to log into my account to run the installer. Do I need to be connected to the internet to install the game in the future on future machines?

If so, I am at least slightly disappointed, since they advertise the game as being DRM free, but if I have to log in to their server to run the installer, even though I am not downloading anything, that is a form of DRM.

Just curious as to how GamersGate worked is all... I was surprised I didn't just get the normal installer and resource files, like you would from D2D.

Since Paradox games don't use Windows registry, you can just move the whole CK folder to whereever you want. No need to reinstall. You can actually make as many copies of the folder as you want, on different drives or different PCs.

If you want to try out some of the major mods for CK-DV (DVIP or TASS .. as I seriously hope you bought the complete version), it might be a good idea to have three copies of your CK folder. One which is your base game + beta patch, one for DVIP mod and one for TASS mod ... since these two mods are incompatible with each other. Then later on you can always delete the one you don't want. The base game is good to have if something goes wrong while you are playing around with mods. Then you can just copy that folder again for a fresh start.
