So EU4 devs, will you return to the European Great Powers?

What it says on the tin.

With the last couple of expansions it was either general mechanics or ROTW. Stuff like the new liberty desire or the desaster mechanics are super cool and do make playing great powers more fun.

But there hasn't really been anything new and important for the European great powers. I don't have a big agenda or wishlist, it would just be great to know if there are any plans or ideas in the works that would make playing the big countries most people started out wanting to play EU more interesting. Can't remember when I ever played one of the lucky nations past 1600.

I don't think this is a symptom of European powers (or indeed Europe in general) lacking flavour; more likely, it's a symptom of the game being incredibly easy playing as European powers, since they're literally the best start available (possibly excluding Aztec in the latest patch, but even so, Aztec needs to westernise for 5000 MP).

With the last couple of expansions it was either general mechanics or ROTW.

IIRC the Art of War expansion was mostly about the religious wars in Europe. They added some provinces in ROTW, but that means just more to conquer for Europeans. Res Publica was most about the european Merchant Republics and the Dutch Republic, the Netherlands are a Great Power and really fun to play. The East India Companies from Welth of Nations are quite an exclusive feature for Spain, Portugal, France and GB (and any European Power you turn into a great Power). Same goes with Colonial Nations from Conquest of Paradise.

It's sad that Incas, Aztecs, China and Japan have unique country systems and yet France, Spain and Austria gameplay is rather generic.

It is not generic simply and plainly because the whole system was made with they in mind and for them. That is why other countries need specific DLCs, while the big european guys dont need them.

I would like to see the devs fix Poland (all that elective monarchy nonsense) and the HRE (leagues!).

France needs a lot more internal drama.

Protestantism needs an overhaul, with 'interesting' (good and bad) events and mechanics. England especially is incredibly boring in EU4 from a religious perspective compared to its real-life counterpart.

??

CN, trade companies, merchant republics rework, treasure fleets, 30 years war, Poland/Dutch rework (govt type/events), reworked curia (done twice), reformation (religion) and centers of reformation, reworked revolution and all affecting any nations (privateers, new vassal mechanics (liberty desire/marches),...).

That's simply not true. To unite whole France region in less than 15 years should never happen, because it was virtually impossible in XV century. Obviously we need a better system than generic "annex vassal" that reflects on France as well.

Hahahahahahahahaha. Good joke man... Good joke...

Oh, you are serious...

Every expansion has given something to Europe directly and/or indirectly. You want to look at a region devoid of new content? Try Asia. Won't happen though, for some reason the region is too unpopular.

In any case, I'm sure Paradox will be happy to cater to you. The Europe only players are the games biggest audience by far.

+1.

I would like more focus in Europa. i see pretty boring to play outside europe.

So it's boring to play outside of Europe, so you want more features for Europe? Does anyone else NOT see the problem here. Big reason it's boring to play outside of Europe is because so many features are already in the game are based around Europe and there's very rarely anyone who can seriously contend a competent player because there is no France, Spain, Austria or HRE. Ming does the best job at that but it doesn't not take long to make them a joke and used for incredibly easy war score and Japan is like England in Europe, even if it gets it's stuff together it rarely does anything serious off it's island. Once Ming is down, it's smooth sailing until European ambitions get in your way or you get in theirs.

As a most recent example of 'features are based around Europe' take how the reforms of the new religions work. They depend on a European to start the process. Westernising does too but at least some ROTW can take that into their own hands and find the Europeans first.

If people said, I just like playing in Europe and want more features there, regardless of whether it's you just like playing the big powers or like the easier game or whatever, I'd totally get that. However saying that ROTW is boring but then wanting features for Europe is sort of making your own problem worse. You have to know what you really want and why rather than the 'feeling' of what you want.

Can we...can we maybe do a round of bug fixing, minor improvements and actually getting all advertised (DLC) features to work first?

I don't get why people say this every single time the inevitable post-DLC speculation begins. Of course there are going to be patches and hotfixes first. There are always are; it's implied.

Meh, Europe is in good shape, there are other areas of the world that need improvements a lot more.

You want to look at a region devoid of new content? Try Asia. Won't happen though, for some reason the region is too unpopular.
Ye have little faith, Peachrocks, an Asian DLC will come eventually. We just have to wait until after the 3rd new world DLC, the Muisca still need some work.

I consider boring to play outside Europe because i really like the history of europe. Its much more interesting than what happend in Asia or Africa.
But this is just my opinion. No matter how many flavor you add to Africa, i will find boring to play there.

You name France, Spain and Austria as expample of countries i consider funny... you are wrong. Thats the problem. France and Spain are terribly boring because of the lack of flavour, custom mechanics and internal politics.
Funny games for me are Netherlands, venice, Tuscany or Milan, Austria (Playing a political game), etc etc... Lucky nations are boring most of them because in 1600 the game is over (Thsts what OP is saying).

In my opinion, France, Spain, England, Austria, Moscovy, Poland, Ottomans, etc etc should be the funniest countries to play and they are not.

In the time frame of EUIV (at least in the first hundred years), the real interesting things in the world happend in Europe. I dont see the point on spending work time in native americans when historically they were exterminated other than selling more games in America. I prefer this time to be spent in europe.

Sorry for my english.

The point is simple: EU4 has always allowed you to play pre-Columbian polities in the Americas, so it makes sense to make them interesting to play. (They seem to have slightly dropped the ball in some regards, judging by TMIT's adventures with the Aztec, but hey, they tried.)

Well, see, France has THE MOST flavor. the file for flavor for France is 96 ko (not including missions...). Then you have Russia (76), Ottomans (72),... Then you have all European majors, with only Japan as non European getting more love than some European majors (more than Austria/Poland). Then you have Ming with 28 ko (you can make a point where they have more because of faction events), Netherlands (26 ko), Venice (25), Portugal, Ethiopia, and then any other country has an event file smaller than 20 ko. Non European nations with more than 10 ko are PErsia, Vijayanagar and Mamlukes.

Anybody else has roughly 10 times less flavour than France, and it includes most non European nations with DHE, including even majors non Euro such as Timmies/Mughals.

As for "custom mechanics", Europe already has the HRE, its 4 fleshed religions, two of which have unique mechanics (papal election and piety for reformed), the 30 years war/reformation events as well as trade companies, PU and revolution mechanics.

You can't really say that any other part of the world is more fleshed out; what they did is make unique mechanics for SOME of the other religions (buddhist/taoist are both still terrible and Muslim all play the same wether it is Sunni/Shia/Ibadi; never played shinto but I don't think they have much more) and add a few DHE.

I'd rather see some DLC focused on Asia personally. I really love playing in India and SE Asia so more detail in the area would be wonderful. Also make Ming and Japan better....

As others have said every DLC has added to Europe in some way and by implication of the time line making other parts of the world more detailed will actually affect European play as the Europeans are out exploring and conquering those areas!
