So... development is still not a free feature. Yeah...

Like... I don't know what to say... I just answered to a Steam thread with OP asking if he could develop provinces without the common sense DLC.

I mean, this game is like among the top... 10 best things that happened to me in the last... 3 years. I would be happy to defend this game to my last breath. But how am I supposed to defend this game in a situation like this? Should I say that a masterpiece like that can only be created by a mad genius so that all the people who directly work on it are mad and you can't expect rational thinking from them?

Is there a single person (developer or player) by this point in time who doesn't think that development should be made a free feature ASAP?

I don't think that's the right answer to the problems with it not being a free feature.

EDIT: particularly since that feature, and its interaction with Institutions, is pretty much the only reason I bought CS.

Developing provinces is not a very realistic mechanic anyway... the fact that you can double or triple the wealth of a province in a single day is ridiculous, and it doesn't work very well as a game mechanic either, i only do it if i have excess mp or if i want to spawn an institution, there should be a more economically realistic mechanic for development.

for me monarch points for devolpming not working like this

for me that devolping province begun long ago and you just complated it by spending monarchy points

but yeah it would be cool if it had time limit

maybe make it you can devolp same province only 4 times in a year? Or spend max 100 (if base cost higher you can only devolp it once) to devolp at same province?
but yeah gameplay wise current version makes it much more better ...
also small nations are weak enought allready ... hell big nations more stable than opms O_O

From misreading the title, I was actually expecting this topic to be about development costing too much MP, thus hampering tall-play strategies.
Let's put it this way: the important thing for me is that I think that vast majority of the community thinks that development naturally should have been made a free feature a long time ago... Am I wrong? Seriously, I need to figure this out...

I don't think that's the right answer to the problems with it not being a free feature.

EDIT: particularly since that feature, and its interaction with Institutions, is pretty much the only reason I bought CS.
I dare you to say it: " I can afford more money to spend on this game so I should be able to use more features of the game..." ( just to be clear I own every single DLC for this game available at this time).

What is the problem with that? Why would it even be a controversial statement? Game development is a business and they have to make money to keep doing it. I don't think they always get it quite right in terms of is a free feature and what is a paid feature but I have no problem with the basic idea of paid DLC features.

My only problem with the dlc model is it makes developing interactions between dlc features a massive pain. But Paradox is taking steps to address the problem. I don't know why people are getting so bent out of shape over the fact Paradox releases paid dlc.

It would be cool if it worked like building something. You spend 1 dev point, the little crane/building animation pops up on your province and it takes X amount of months to develop it from 3 production to 4 and you have to wait for the development to finish before you can do it again

Well, that's one way to force Russia to be technologically backward.

There is no legal impediment to them moving development from CS to the base game. Whether it would be good for business is another question. Personally as an owner of CS I'd be happy for them to do it since my primary concern with the current DLC policy is that they can't properly integrate the core features from different DLCs. Shifting some of those features to the base game would allow them to make the game better. Estates and development are the two prime candidates in my mind.

I wonder how fun will it be to get Persian development bonuses with Cradle of Civilization while not having Common Sense.
It will be just as fun as before. Without Common sense development is as fixed for you as base tax used to be. The game was fun then. It will be fun now.

Is there a single person (developer or player) by this point in time who doesn't think that development should be made a free feature ASAP?
Yes.
I dare you to say it: " I can afford more money to spend on this game so I should be able to use more features of the game..." ( just to be clear I own every single DLC for this game available at this time).
Strange... that description sounds familiar for some reason. Oh right, that's what expansions are all about -_-

Edit: If you're going to advocate for something how about presenting some supporting points other than "I don't want to pay for it" -- regardless of whether you yourself own it or not.
