Of all the features in Utopia, this is perhaps the only one I'm legitimately disappointed by. It's literally just full bombardment with a very slightly better DPS. It doesn't even have a greater chance of killing POPs or destroying buildings. For all intents and purposes, it's the same thing as full orbital bombardment.

I was hoping that it could, with enough time, turn the planet into a molten/toxic/tomb world, but I get that it might be hard to balance. However, it could at least have double the chance of killing POPs and ruining buildings, otherwise the fanatical purifiers' "special" toy is just a renamed, slightly reskined version of full orbital bombing available to every generic militarist.

Backing the OP, I strongly suspect that it is a bug since I failed to get a single kill or destroyed building after two years of 23k fleet hanging over two different primitive worlds (4 years in total, just did it for the objectivity of experiment). My guess is that some numbers regarding the chance to inflict damage are broken.

yep. it's useless. almost the same as full. and if your fleet is big enough you will not see the difference.(even on limited my fleet usually bombard planet to 0 while transport is preparing for attack.
at least no disappointment that it's exclusive to f.purifiers

Someone posted a screen of it as a joke responses to dealing with undesirables, I thought the numbers were off, since they looked just like full bombardment. I have one point in military and full bombardment gets rid of a few pops and buildings, should I bother with sieges.
