Given that they've had some of the highest average player numbers since 2.2, I don't think anyone here can say it's unplayable for most players or that the update is terrible on a fundamental level. That's not to discount the folks who have had severe performance issues, nor is it to say everything is bug-free and hunky dory (it desperately needs like 3 patches). But I suspect the forums overstate how much dislike there actually is for 2.2. Most people don't post in the forums and don't get extremely angry when their favorite form of entertainment isn't working the way they'd like. They just do something else or enjoy it as it is.
You accuse me of making up stats and then you pull a number out of your ass regarding number of players who cannot play the game. You have absolutely no way of knowing how many people seem the game unplayable. The only count that is available is a steam chart and it shows an immediate drop right after release as well as a very obvious fall off of players buying the dlc's overall, this is far from the "highest average player numbers" and it would be nice if people used actual statistics instead of their opinion.
nothing is being overstated, the game is unplayable for the majority of players (more than half)

That's honestly just your opinion. I've played more on 2.2 than I did on 2.1. There are some bugs but most of the game works for me. There aren't huge swathes that don't work. That's needless hyperbole and subjective at best.I couldn't disagree more. if you're going to define "playable" as various gameplay loops being intact then yes the game is playable. As a whole product it is in no way playable. Ignoring subjective experiences regarding lag, various core features simply do not function. You cannot play Stellaris, you can only play a portion of it.
The game is like Minecraft stuck on Peaceful mode with all the Nether content blocked off.

Are they back from their holidays yet?If we're being honest here, a huge part of the issue is that 2.2 came out right before Christmas and we only got as far as the 2.2.3 beta before Paradox went dark for their holiday break. Past major changes have also not gone smoothly, but you didn't have the devs all out of the office at once then. Was it poor timing on Paradox's part? Probably, yeah. But I'm willing to give them some slack.
Probably and they probably need a week to read through the forum and feedback we gave them. I wouldn't expect a communication until next week. Nothing meaningful anyways. Are they back from their holidays yet?

Guys, let's keep the discussion civil. Let's define playable as enjoyable.
Is it? It is at least more expensive than something like Civilization 6 if you buy the Expansions close to release. Stellaris is so far a 200€ game if you bought every expansion like me.
It's still higher than it was for most of 2018. Many people are playing and continue to play despite the buggy state. That chart clearly shows that it is less than the best peak average, you claimed it was more, you are also only looking at 30 days, the dlc is less than 30 days old. if you look at the daily numbers you will see the average is less than half of the player count on dlc release, and while it may be conjecture to say that they all stopped playing almost immediately because of the bugs, it still shows the drop.
maybe next time you should learn to read charts before calling people names.
...am I misreading this chart?
