So after 2,5 years and ~800 hours I uninstalled

After all the hype on 2.2, production lines, the rework and all I decided to uninstall for at least half a year. I don't play on small galaxies, because what is the point?
And currently it is a game of waiting. I dare say my machine is rather decent, but at a certain point I only do 3 days per second. If I have to wait 3 or 5 years for anything else to happen (have enough pops to build something, make a tech or unity decision), that means 6-8 minutes of nothing happening (maybe an anomaly).
What I guess disappoints me most, is that the release date on 6th of December while all right for xmas and what not, meant, that we got a natural communication hole 2 weeks after release. It seems clearly rushed and it is sad.
I hope over the next 6 months the game shapes up.

3 weeks, not 2. I don't see the point uninstalling it but I haven't touched the game since the first week when the shiny new features lost their luster and the shambling mess underneath was revealed. I can only hope they're running around over there drafting triage plans to fix this mess as we speak.

I will say - I love 2.2 and given the choice between 2.2 in its current state and 2.1 I still chose to play 2.2 hands down. But - the game remaining in the state it is for these weeks over Christmas and New Years is now leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I get the reasoning behind releasing the expansion with some bugs still in there and that it's much easier to squash the last few with the game released, but this was released with a lot of very obvious and very significant bugs still there. It makes it feel like the primary concern was getting out before some end of year deadline at any cost.

I don't feel like it's unforgivable and I do have to remind myself that I still prefer to play 2.2 over 2.1 - but I hope the team really think hard on whether the right call was made in this instance. If releases like this become the norm I think people will stop buying expansions at release and just wait for the bugs to be fixed and there be a sale.

I encourage anyone reading to do this by default. Please do not pre-order anything or purchase on day one; your consumer rights shouldn't be toyed with, nor should goodwill risk being burned.

EDIT: I pre-ordered Stellaris, so I have the voice of experience :p

The reason I uninstalled is, that I want to increase the uninstall number in their telemetry.

It is forgivable, but it is still a mistake and should be acknowledged as such. I am just worried, with the F76, Diablo Immoral. This was rushed, probably to satisfy and pimp the quarterly revenue stream. I honestly hope PDX goes more like CDPR for the next DLC adn release it, when it's ready, not when the quarter beckons.

I didn't mind day one purchases until 2.2; I guess from now on, expansions get installed only once they get on sale and I guess I will do the same for EUIV and CK2.

I agree, though for me it's very very close to unforgivable. 2.2 rendered the game almost unplayable for a large amount of the user base. Most early access titles I've played have higher standards than this. This is the first time I didn't buy a DLC right at release and I'm really glad.

I do a similar thing with stellaris - really love the game but it spent 11 months of 2018 either uninstalled or unplayed.

Played a day of apocalypse, realised it was borked.

played a few games of distant stars, realised it was borked.

Played a minute of megacorp, realised it was borked.

What can i say? i'm an optimist, i keep expecting them to reinvest some of the stellaris profits in improving the quality of the game, but alas, the Sauna and Meatball budget must be bloated as hell.

I specifically didn't buy megacorp even though I thought the corporations sounded interesting.
I'm glad I didn't buyit yet, and I don't see myself buy it soon unless I'm looking at a hefty discount. The product simply isn't worth the money when it is so broken.

One of my friends bought it, and we are trying a multiplayer game. Just to see how handicapped it is, I am trying a criminial syndicate. After being completely boxed in, I've found 2 out of 6 empires that I actually was able to even start branch offices with, and the 2 branches I tried opening (1k energy and 50 influence cost) got closed fairly swiftly as the AI just started spamming precincts as soon as I had a branch on a planet. I'm curious how I am even supposed to be able to have a chance of getting a return on the investment in opening those branches given how quick they get closed down, and that's not even discussing the fact that most of the empires I met I never even got the option because of what type of government they had.

I hate to agree but... yaaa I was having fun with my game the other day but even with glavius mod the ai just won't take planets from you. Honestly that was the breaking point for me. Put the game on fast and let the huuge devouring swarm to the north declare war on me many times. Never did take a planet from me though they've taking quite a few from other ai.

There's other things such as what you said but come on. What's the point if I can't lose my planets? And if I don't use glavius mod the ai is boring and terrible and.... ug.

I have over 600 hours and have loved this game. I haven't uninstalled yet but again, the ai not taking planets from me is something that will personally kill the game for me. Add that to the other stuff and man, I'm trying to be forgiving but......

I agree that there are obvious QA problems with the release of 2.2 but I just want to point out that 800 hours is incredible value for your money.

EDIT: I mean if you uninstalled because you want to send them a message I think your 800+ hours send a stronger one in the other direction.

I agree that there are obvious QA problems with the release of 2.2 but I just want to point out that 800 hours is incredible value for your money.

EDIT: I mean if you uninstalled because you want to send them a message I think your 800+ hours send a stronger one in the other direction.

I certainly do hope their analysis is not so financial oriented. Alienating the core customer base is certainly not a viable strategy in the long run.

Is it? It is at least more expensive than something like Civilization 6 if you buy the Expansions close to release. Stellaris is so far a 200€ game if you bought every expansion like me.

3 days per second? a dream ^^ try 1 day in 3 seconds.. and i did play 30 years that way while conquering a fallen empire.. well i did play switch mario odyysey and looked into stellaris from time to time ^^ my first game with the promised better performance was a test with 1300 stars. that was... fine :D

now i do play eu 4. spain is interessting to play. but yeah.. i am a bit disappointed in stellaris. a new engine would be nice. i remember, there was a engine update within the lifetime of europa universalis 3. so it is not unheard off(or maybe i dreamed that.. does anyone recall that?)

Yeah, I bought everything with the exception of the graphic pack. Until Megacorp, never thought of it as wasted money.
I just hope they see a spike in hard-core players uninstall, fix it, I reinstall and they never make such a doo doo again and we make another Dumka dumka (play Magicka! if you don't know it).

If we're being honest here, a huge part of the issue is that 2.2 came out right before Christmas and we only got as far as the 2.2.3 beta before Paradox went dark for their holiday break. Past major changes have also not gone smoothly, but you didn't have the devs all out of the office at once then. Was it poor timing on Paradox's part? Probably, yeah. But I'm willing to give them some slack.
