When devs improve AI I hope that they fix too the special civics AI.
Current rogue servitors AI never let their bio-trophy pops reproduce and feudal realms AI never release vassals.

President: So, gentlemen, what are your opinions on potential site for our first ringworld?
Advisor #1: Sir, I recommend Vhailas system. It is close to our core and have literally no useful resources on planets/asteroids.
Advisor #2: Sir, if I may? Obrium system is just perfect: first, it is on fringes of our empire so its population will not share our ethics; second, its mining stations give us the most minerals of all our empire systems; third, it is also a chokepoint so it makes perfect sense for it to be one of the first systems our enemies will attack.
President: Obrium it is, then. Oh, and Advisor #1? you're fired.

The worst part about this is that instead of going "wow the ai is dumb" i thought "wow, the ai can actually build megastructures now, neat".

AI seems a little bit better at producing and maintaining a decent sized fleet now, but still manages it horribly in wars. In my current gane on grand admiral with high agression, by 2350 theres plenty of equivalent empires while on 2.0.2 almost everyone would be pathetic by now, Im yet to see how Awakened Fallen empires will behave.

Also, it seems to be developing its planets better and not suffering from massive starvation.

Its worth a shot IMO.

There was a massive thread on Reddit last month where Wiz said the devs were aware of it. That's pretty much it.

Well it's been almost three months now since the release of 2.0 and the AI is still unplayable, don't really know what else to say.

I can't even open the game anymore in singleplayer because it's just not even worth investing any time into so long as the game is in its current state, We've still had no real communication on the issue of the AI all we keep being offered is 1 liner comments via reddit.

Up until now I'd purchased all the content for Stellaris but I honestly think i'm done buying any more until they actually decide to work on the core game.

We found and fixed some issues related to AI not properly budgeting for buildings. So far it's looking a lot better on the internal builds but we're still testing the impact.

Any consideration to making a version of scaling where you can set both the start and end point of the AI bonuses? As it stands, the AI is a pushover when it starts with no bonuses regardless of where it ends up. If I could set up a game where it starts at Commodore and ends at Grand Admiral, I think I'd have a reasonable challenge the entire way through.

No explicit plans for this but it's not a bad idea.

The biggest problem with the war/tactical AI is that it never commits to a task or sets sequential goals. The AI's fleets are so easily baited around because they always just target what they calculate to be their immediate highest priority. A single corvette entered one of their systems halfway across the galaxy? Better call off the invasion into the enemy's core sector and spend the next entire year moving all our fleets that way! I know this stuff is hard to code, since there are so many variables to account for... but this is a strategy game, where the AI is a crucial part of the game experience, so we should be able to expect better, even if it's a lot of work.

Just use the mods and don't be so melodramatic about it. The mods work fine. As Wiz said in Reddit and now here, they are actually working on it. It's not just a single switch to flip and you always have to be careful with these things, so it'll take more time.

Except the mods do not work, last time I did glavius AI mod with 200% resource bonus difficulty custom and beat an AI in a war with 1 planet vs 11 planets.

Glavius has gotten to the point he hack fixes the AI not to even use colony ships, so yes it's not melodramatic.

Thats only because it's not possible anymore to create colony ships by mod since 2.0. So his solution is not that big of a difference.

I think that glavius' mod has a bit of a problem with higher difficulties, because then the ai should maintain a lot more ships at any time. But well....
