Alcohol and Tobacco reference? Is the inclusion of Wine and Tobacco as resources really going to cause people playing this game to even think about drunkenness/smoking? Just something I found odd about the rating.

But then again, how would they show the slaves as "trade goods" in EU2..? Racism?

Looks good, its the best intro I ever seen at a Paradox game.
Still, it needs some more movements, not a picture of fighting people, but really people who are fighting.
Paradox intro's just never are that good.

It not that bad, considering budget. It one of their best intros, after Europa Universalis 2. Thats one really good budget-intro.

It was VERY VERY VERY good game. Some aspects of it, especially battles i would love to see in EU4

I still play Imperialism 2 Its really a good game

The intro of both games are really similar... the problem is that Imp 2 is a 7 years old game! And by the way, the maps are similar too... Imp 2 is not 3D of course, but it was inside its time context.

2) Funniest thing ever: When the announcer says, "Old Empires will be destroyed" the map is hovering over Poland. Even the announcer knows they're doomed.

Reading thru this thread, I picture the imagine the P'dox employee who made the movie reading it and muttering about how we have no taste...

The EU1 video was by far the best one they've done. That guy must have quit or something... :wacko: It's the bombastic corniness of the voiceover that ruins this new one. Maybe it's better in the Swedish version?

As for really impressive intro movies, the best I've ever seen was for Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War. Wow. Obviously, a very different sort of game... personally I wouldn't be a bit bothered if there were no movie for EU3, but you're expected to have something there nowadays...

no it doesn't for me, but the address given by Susana is a bit better. You have to click several times to get it but it finally arrives. These web sites are "flashy" but not very functional


But it was worth the time spent to get it :rofl: the art to make something with the few bits here and there you already have. A sort of McGyver trailer

Just out of curiosity. Has any1 ever played Imperialism 2? If you have you would have notice that EUIII's intro is almost identical to Imperialism 2's. Only differences are the guy talking and the better graphics:rofl:
Maybe the devs didn't notice nor knew about imperialism. After all it is an old game from 1999.

I like the basic idea of the intro. Usually you get movie like scenes starting slow and culminating in some action. While it sometimes looks really spectacular it's also quite similar for several games. Just take Age of Kings and Knights of Honor - you could basically use the AoK intro for KoH and vice versa without much problems.....they are done very well, are visually great, but in the end they are nothing special.

This EUIII thing at least attempts to introduce the game itself. Some ideas are very good, like the "look" on the map through the EU title. It just disappoints then since there are too much static elements later in the intro.
