Sneaky preview of intro movie

Hi everyone,

We've got some treats for you over the coming days. First out the official intro movie which has JUST gone live on Gamespot but it will not be announced officially until tomorrow. Thought you might like the heads up!

You can find it under recent updates on the main page and the PC channel as well as on the Europa Universalis III game space!

Like all of paradox's intro movies I edit the movie folder name so that they don't play anyway.

I actually think its the best intro Paradox have ever done. I like the way it has a certain EU1 intro feel as well (but better of course)

Is it mindblowing? No, but then does it really have to be? I think its better having the budget go into the game than a snazzy intro that you will only see once.

The intro was...unspectacular. Then again, as with many other players, I just skip them anyways - they take valuable minute(s) from game time. More interesting was the small interview they had right next to it. Interesting little factoids like allowing Sunni-Shi'a conversion this time around, monarchies being the only ones able to make royal marriages, theocracies have religious limitations but tending to strong diplomatic relations with certain nations (example given is Pope if you're Catholic), tribal being a government to stack onto the pagan/exotic disadvantages already in earlier EU, and minor mention made of republics. Global badboy also seems to be implied to return, given mention made of a (singular) reputation score to be paired with prestige. Nothing really new or surprising, of course.

Is anyone else bugged by that chap's voice? It sounds more like an action movie trailer than anything else. Of course, I likely won't watch it all that much.

Apart from that short sequence with the bit crappy looking ships I liked it. Musik could be a bit louder to emotionalize the spoken words IMHO.

No that bad. Music is great. Change of scenes is interestingly done. Maybe it lacks fluidity in transitions.

I've always played games with my own definition of 'victory'. One of my first games of EU3 will be as Cologne, and I'll try to control both the Empire and the Papacy.

As for the intro, I usually use that time to work on getting dinner ready, or read the paper, or what have you. And I've yet to set up sound on my computer.

Few thoughts:
The voice-over bloke sounds like a total git.
As far as Pdox intro's go, its the best yet. Will I watch it more than once? Nope. Will I delete the folder that its in like all the others? Yes.
