No, seriously, is anyone else getting the Ophidians event on basically every planet? Is this a bug or- well, actually I can't really imagine it is anything but a bug. Right? I am so tired of seeing it and multiple times per game at that!

Edit: For the record, I am playing Vanilla. 0 mods, but I do have all the expansions.

I figure it's an Easter egg/tribute to Rick and Morty.

If you play nice, you get a moderate mineral reward.

I've never had the snakes do anything but give me irrelevant resource debuffs (since it seems to happen most often on my trade planets? I might be noticing a pattern that isn't there) on my planets then leave.

And yeah, I get them every single game. It seems they're a fixed event in every timeline for every one of my civs.

Everyone has this question every time a new event appears. Event drop rates are set SKYHIGH whenever a new event is rolled out. Same with events that had significant changes, like I get the Yuht a lot right now because they added more to it. This allows players to experience the event without having to reload and save scum to get it. After a few months, the drop rates go back to normal.

Now the low-quality minerals modifier stays around forever.

There were timed negative modifiers in a previous patch, some of which were non-functional.

I don't mind the event rate being 100% per game, what I mind is that it seems to be 100% per planet. What, did some ancient empire seed them with snakes beforehand? Does each ship they steal crashland into the next planet I colonize and I am just chasing them from world to world? I have had the event three times in my current game and it is only 2275!

The problem with this event is that it's pointless, irritating, and boring. The very first time I got it, I let them take the spacecraft because I thought there would be something interesting down the line, like finding a planet where they settled a colony that I could interact with. Instead, the whole event just ... peters out.

Also, it should be a unique event and fire just once, unless multiple occurrences builds up to some greater narrative.

The cure for me was to take advantage of the code limitations and just not start the first special project ("Use Science").

There's no penalty to your planet if you don't advance the event chain, and just let that project rot in your Situation Log forever.

Plus, I don't see the snake event trigger again while the project is pending. Not yet at least.

I got it once or twice per game for the past 7 games.
I think a mod broke it for you. I do think it should be capped to no more than 1 per playthrough. and would be nice if it was made less bad

Last time I finished that event chain, the "poor quality minerals" debuff stuck around until at least 2350 after which I stopped looking at that planet quite as often.

Didn't see a timer on it, lasted over 100 years at least, so I figure it's permanent.
