The UI already looks far too much like a colour-inverted Excel spreadsheet.

I spend all day being a tedious data manager at work, I don't want my play to look like the same thing. Less "Efficiently streamlined data display", more "I'm playing as a theocratic fungus so give me a UI with 'shrooms and incense in the corners that gets progressively Black-and-White-er as I do good/evil stuffs" please.

(And that's Molyneux black and white, not monochrome black and white. Yes, I know the Creature was awful, but having your temple go from plain stone to "Shining alabaster with doves and rainbows and harp music" or "Black basalt with crows and smoke and the wails of the damned" was genius)

I just want functionality to see at glance how close I'm to energy/minerals maximum storage and how long till technology is researched without having to wait for tooltip or opening new window.

If you have better proposal I would like to see it.

Yes! But I suggest implementing it more as a thin line, instead of a thick bar. Splitting hairs - but it should prove more eye-friendly.
