Given what we know so far, world conquest is going to be discouraged and even dominating your neighborhood will be difficult. So, what bonuses or advantages should you get for keeping things small and manageable?

In games like EU3, you have to get a certain size to generate enough revenue and defend against an aggressive AI. But given that baronies have been added and counties will have more complexity, it will be feasible and more important fun to play as the liege of a small realm like Wales or Navarra or Georgia without trying to expand ahistorically.

You can focus more on individual characters - your family, close friends, etc, how they are doing, how their ambitions (and plots?) are progressing...

Whereas in a large kingdom I think most of your attention would be on your vassals, and your own family would be mere pawns. You wouldn't really follow your sons' and nephews' lives much, until one of them ends up inheriting the kingdom of course.
