As seen on the stream, the last volley of the battle simply disappears into nowhere immediately after the battle ends. If possible it would be great to just have those last few missiles/mass drivers to hit the wreckage of the last standing ship(s) after the battle ends, or at least explode near what used to be the enemy fleet. This would make overkill look a lot better :p

On that same note on the aesthetics of the naval engagements, combat looks less like a knife fight than a fevered moshpit of brightly colored beams and balls of plasma. Were it not for the combat status screen it would be completely beyond comprehension to understand whether you were winning or losing a given battle.

This has probably a bit to do with the combat computers installed on the ships that default them into an aggressive and some of the weaponry being short range. Still, there has to be a way to make combat look less chaotic.

On the topic of cosmetics/graphics: it looks like each hanger module only produces a single strike craft (an abstracted squadron) instead of a squadron. I can see the benefits in saving processing/GPU capacity, but it looks a little silly with a few lonely fighters buzzing around instead of the swarms I'm assuming we had hoped to see. It's a pure eye candy request.

I agree on a level with the comments/suggestions above. My guess is they are working hard on getting the game release worthy, and won't focus on this kind of minutia til post launch. It's been said on more then one occasion that the game will not have everything they wanted by release date. I'm sure a lot will happen in post launch patches and DLC. I feel we will just have to wait and see.

The blorg fighting looks like the third battle of Tiamat from galactic heroes. Hopefully not all battles will look that chaotic, a few make sense but other battles could be more organized looking, with different formations. If you have seen Legend of the Galactic Heroes some of their formations look really cool.

As different tactical computers affect on how the fleet battles, we just haven't seen yet what they have to offer.

One change I would still do: the missile emissions should be smaller or less mushy. This video was posted on Stellaris meme threat and shows how much space they take in close-range battle, once the two fleets finally reach each other. I know that the twitch videos aren't very high quality but even then, tweaking the missile graphics a little might come a long way in terms of "cleaning" the battle.

I'd rather describe current aestethics of space battles as "two angry crazy swarms of bees" seeing how erratic, incomprehensible and cluttered these battles look.
I'd much rather prefer to see starships more spreaded over solar systems and firing at each other from some distance in something resembling formations...
