Since there seem to be such a huge amount of bugs concerning the random encounters, you can try extracting this file in your SOTS2 directory, backing up the one thats there first!
It's a small fix that basically removes the random encounters from the game. Allowing you to play a game without crashing due to the random encounters.

It needs to be extracted to \Steam\steamapps\common\sword of the stars ii\assets\base

The game will still crash if you do that, it doesn't seem that the slider works.
*giggles insanely* why am i not surprised to hear that :D :D

Are you absolutely sure of that though ? When i started a standard 8 player game with random encounters, i'd every now and then get combat messages with "the swarm" or other entities. In my last game which is at turn 58 and random encounters set to 0, i've yet to see any of those.

Some crashes are not random event related but Station module related. But I still crash with Slider at 0%, but I did not check log to try to figure out what was the reason.
yeah.. in my newest attempt at creating a game, i've let all my stations stay at their starter levels, i dont upgrade them at all past building them. But i guess its only a matter of time until one of the AI's update theirs which might well cause the same type of crash.

On a side note...im not sure if research time and economy are effected by the sliders either...or the estimated times to complete are way off, yes i know the tech completion is random..but my techs seem to fill up to 100% faster than the estimated time...but a lot. like techs that say 14-15 turns..are at 100% in 4-5 turns.

not to sure about this dint get a long time to test the game at my brothers, but i think this has something to do with the sliders not being connected in the UI.

It is posible that the unused ship building funds go back to the budget but are not seen, so you get alot of money and research boost.

I hope some with more time with the game can test this out.

The entire game is like that..... I send a fleet to colonize, estimated 15 turns, they complete in 5 turns. I send a fleet to relocate, estimated 7 turns, they complete in 2 turns..
So messed up.
