Yeah. I know. As i said, social Engineering as a requirement makes Sense in a democracy, Not so much in an Empire or dictatorship.
It makes as much sense there too. Just because you can supress unrest more easily in Empires/Dictatorships does not mean you want to have unrest to supress (unless that is somehow part of your Rulership justification).

What were the changes in the education in the 3rd Reich, if not social Engineering towards Militarism and Xenophobia?
We might call it Propaganda in Authoritarian Governments. Social Engineering is the same in Democracies - just with easier to falsify arguments, if any falsehoods happened.

I actually think in Game terms (not real life ofc) it would make more sense "my way":

Authoritarian govts let you do what you like (within certain parameters), but it might piss off your factions. So if your people are xenophile and egalitarian, and your king wants to introduce xeno slavery, he can. But he really, really, really shouldnt.

Democratic govts have to sway the will of the masses first in order to change policy. So Chairman Kim would have to invest into getting the respective factions more influence in order to embrace them.

In real life, sure, you're absolutely right. But this is a game. ;)
Btw, i'd really like the option of gathering support for a certain ethic by spending influence (or unity? Or either? Or both?) even if there's no factions for it yet.

Are the years of peace values multiplicative? If they are, how do you get militarists going after 80 years of peace? (= 0.75^4)
I had that problem - so much pacifism that i couldn't get out of it.

One little war resets the counter back to 0.
If you can not attack, you just need to get somebody to attack you. Rivalry, Insult and keeping a low power Fleet with lots of building potential/upgrade potential/resources are you friends here.

does it mean if you have 100 years of peace attraction will be *1.33^5 (*4.16)?
From this part of the Formula: Yes
But any war rests it all the way back to 0.

Same issue as my Xenophile Faction going batshit about my keeping 'Alien Slaves'.
In a form of a Caste System that is applied to every species (including primary) in my empire equally, with all species having the same rights, under an authoritarian rule.

Xenophiles should not complain about slavery if it's the same type applied to the primary species as well (because in that case it's not unfair treatment of Xenos, but an Egalitarian issue).
And likewise, Egalitarians shouldn't complain about 'misstreatment of Synths', but leave that up to the Materialists, for the reasons OP mentioned.

Yeah, because they are watching the species be purged. I mean, haven't you ever met a vegetarian who doesn't eat meat because they were raised around a slaughterhouse?

The reason in the game is because purged pops are 'free' pops.

That's very interesting!

I think some problems come down to value tuning.

For instance. There's really little that prop up authoritarian. My fanatic spiritualist authoritarian has more egalitarian and xénophile than authoritarian, even with 50% ethic attraction from all the modifiers. For instance the value for same species enslaved is immediately cancelled by "enslaved species". It is literally nearly impossible to have multi species planet and not have a bunch of egalitarian and xénophile modifier stacking.

Basically : spiritualist don't have to worry too much about factor boosting materialist as it can be easily kept in check.

Authoritarian have to worry about any xénophile AND egalitarian and the default of applying caste to everyone will massively boost both.

If you chose to make everyone not primary species a resident, you boost the individual pop egalitarian attraction, if you allow full right, you get the country wide allow alien leader modifier.

You can't win being a non xenophobe authoritarian. Right now out of desperation I outlawed xeno slavery while keeping caste for my own population. To keep one half of my problematic population happy. Which is ironic considering the old system had a policy for doing the exact opposite.

Funny enough, Ethic atraction for Xenophile/Xenophobe explicitly ignores Robot pops. So I would asume it is simply a oversight/bug. Unfortunately that check has to be written for every single case, so it is easy enough to miss one instance.

I think they would just need to check on Caste vs Fuill Slavery. Only Authoritarian can use Caste. Only Xenophobe can use Full. Wich kind is for wich Ethic should be possible to check.
But it that decision might have been made when that code was already written, so it might need another QA pass.

This is a problem I've been having. I'm playing as authoritarian and my empire is being plagued by egalitarians and Xenophiles right now Very few of my pops are spiritualist, and almost none are authoritarian.

Without a doubt, some of the ethics need to be split out a little bit more. Xenophiles should seek to have aliens integrated into the empire, whatever that may be, rather than just believing everyone apart from the primary species should be full citizens.

It's a shame, because one of the things I was really looking forward to in Utopia was having a stratified society, with some species being citizens, others being slaved, and others undesirable. But the way the factors work at the moment is that Xenophile pretty much overcomes anything else.

I am convinced we could actually fix the Factions with modding. Is not much harder then the old Prethoryn Purge Penalty Fix.

The problem is that 1.5.1 is already in beta and based on a older Fork, so we are not certain wich fixes are needed.
