I'm confused. What does this mean?
The "Eastern Poland to the Soviets" event only checked for one of the two Bitter Peace events to not have happened - it should check for both of them just to be sure. It doesn't make a difference when playing historically, but you could end up giving the Soviets eastern Poland even though you already won against them getting Bitter Peace.
This (more theoretical) problem was mentioned in Byakhiam's thread (see link above) and I decided to include it.

I don't think so. Historically Germany installed some kind of a Croatia puppet regime, and most of the coast should be their claim. In HoI 2 with the Italian cores in Yugoslavia, Croatia usually ends up being extremely small without any coast.

If I remember correctly, Split and Dubrovnik provinces should be given to Italy.

No, my book (The Times - Atlas Zweiter Weltkrieg / Bechtermütz Verlag) tells me, that Italy did not get Dubrovnik. They have annexed the Split to Zara area and a very small area around Cattaro (Kotor). I think both justify no province and Italy should only get Podgorica, Pristina and Ljubljana as occupation zones after the Partition of Yugoslavia.

Update!

The SMEP has been updated again:
  • corrected "Assassination of Yamamoto" (japan.txt): Techteam Yamamoto is now killed instead of Nagano (bug)
  • changed events 4500/1 (siam.txt): Siam now cedes province 1303 instead of 1330 (bug?)
  • changed "Independent Croatia" (croatia.txt, germany.txt): Croatia now properly joins the Axis (bug?)
  • added a series of reminder events for the domestic policy sliders (hoi2.txt)

Available at the download links in the first post or in my signature, upgrading with ongoing games _should_ not cause significant problems, but I can't guarantee it.

I really appreciate how you find (assuming you are finding these) bugs and alter the events appropriately.

I also really (cannot emphasize this enough) appreciate the thoroughness and clarity of your changelogs. Waaaay too often people do work and don't provide changelogs. What a bad mistake.

I hope you'll pick this up - a couple of points on the Vichy AI (I'm using SMEP, excellent work).

I think that increasing Vichy AI has made the UK attack them every game (6 out of 6 so far). My suggestion is to reduce the chance of this. Also, there are some unwanted side effects:

I am playing Japan. Vichy France refuses to let me have Indochina. I invade. The UK declares war on Vichy, and this seems to trigger Germany/axis to declare war on Japan, regardless of relationships.

My recomendations:
1) Reduce UK chance of attacking Vichy (I'd say about 1 in 3 seems fair).
2) If the UK attacks Vichy, then Germany anexes Vichy mainland provinces (high chance).
3) If Germany anexes mainland provinces, then Japan anexes Indochina provinces (highish chance).
4) In any event any state of war between Vichy and Japan is cleared with Vichy surrendering any provinces already conquered by Japan. This prevents the axis declaring war on Japan, unless Japan decides to invade what is left of Vichy (anything not anexed plus African/island territories).
5) Vichy (the rest) remains a puppet of Germany but not part of the axis alliance (is that possible?)
6) France leaves the Alliance (high chance). Netherlands leaves the Alliance (v.low chance).

One other completely off topic question you might know the answer to. If you play a small member of the alliance and take an enemy province, is there any way to retain control rather than have it dished out to an ally? I ask this because playing a nation like Australia, it is frustrating to conquer enemy territory (like Abyssinia) and have it given to the UK. This only makes sense if it was formally a UK province (i.e. can a player's country be given preference over AI countries in these circumstances - it would add to gameplay).

A couple of clarifications and comments from my side: I never touched the Vichy AI, I only added an event for the UK to make them attack Vichy as happened historically with the sinking of the French fleet in Mers-el-Kebir. I agree that the situation you describe is an unpleasant one, but it could only happen because Vichy made the ahistorical choice not to hand out Indochina.
A flaw with the war event for Vichy and the Allies is that the engine will automatically make Vichy join the Axis, that's why even Japan will be at war with them when attacking Indochina. This could be prevented with Vichy declaring the war instead of the UK, I might change that for the next version.

As for the ownership of conquered provinces: The game engine decides about that based on the supply lines, I've seen unfortunate decisions as well but it seems impossible to write general events because of the sheer amount of possibilities. The only solution I know is to change ownership in the savegame when you feel it's appropriate - I do it from time to time, same for making Japan join the Axis properly.

Thanks for the quick reply. Does the event make the UK go to war, or just a 'limited engagement' as per Mers-el-Kebir? If the former then maybe it would still be helpful to offer the opportunity to clear the war state between Vichy and Japan if it already exists - this was my issue as I was already at war.

I'll post the rest up on the bugs/enhancements forum. Cheers for the reply. Good work by the way.

Are there any plans for SMEP for 1.2 patch? It apears that while some bugs were fixed others were created in the process...
I'm sorry, tonhur, I kept you waiting.
I share your impression, there seem to be several things that merit a new version of SMEP. But just like I wrote in the DAIM thread, I didn't touch HoI in the last weeks, and I don't think I'll reinstall it soon. I won't have much time to play, and something else appeared on my hard drive... ;)

So, it's sad but it's true, SMEP is discontinued at the moment. :(
