Has anyone else had an experience where the game gets to be very sluggish in loading screens or even moving from menu to menu within the game? When I started the game it was very responsive, but as I get a couple of years into the game the response time (only aboard the Leopard/Argo) gets horribly inadequate. The only difference between now and then is that I'm using the Beta patch and there are probably a hundred save games. Speaking of which, do they just accumulate without cleaning up? Their very existence couldn't possibly result in decreased performance, could it? I've running an Intel i7 and an NVIDIA GTX 960 and the out-of-combat sluggishness is the only problem I've experienced (other than Unity crashes), and, like I said, the game didn't start out that way. And I'm not talking about after having the game running for a while. It's this way on a fresh launch of the game. It's almost enough to make me stop playing, especially since the performance seems to have degraded. Maybe drop the Beta patch?

Don't get my to explain it in detail, but it has to do with the ungodly amount of saves the game produces. (It does not override any saves, so you can amass a few hundret of them very fast). Deleting a bunch of them speeds everything up a lot. For ease of deleting, the files are in Steam\userdata\[Steamid]\637090\remote\C0\SGS1

Thanks for that input. Though I don't understand why unused files just sitting on a disk would affect performance I will give it a try. Since I'm saving almost every turn during combat due to the random Unity crashes, I currently have almost 300 save files totaling almost 200 MB in size.

I don't understand it either, but cleaning out helped me speed up the game.
