So, im playing as reformed England in the GC, and its about 1720. The problem is that I get zero missionaries because my slider is at full innovative right now.
The missionary pop-up says +.50 for being reformed and -2.00 for being innovative. So, because i don't get any missionaries, I can't convert all my different religion provinces.

Is there an easy way to get more missionaries? Or do I have to change the slider? (which would take about 50 years at one move per ten years).

Is this just a disadvantage of going reformed? Because it seems that if you do convert to reformed you have to keep the slider pretty far to narrowminded just to get missionaries.

Should this be changed in the next patch?
Or do i just live with it and try get the slider to narrowminded before the game ends.

I think that's just forethought/experience: if you're going to be in a situation where you need to convert, you should avoid getting so innovative. A lesson for next game; at 1720, it's probably not worth the bother.

You can either change your sliders via the rules, or you can cheat. Hit the F12 key and type "robespierre" and you can manipulate your DP sliders at will. You can also hit F12 and type "Loyola" which will instantly give you 6 missionaries tht you can use.

Is this just a disadvantage of going reformed? Because it seems that if you do convert to reformed you have to keep the slider pretty far to narrowminded just to get missionaries.

Catholics get 1 missionaries and CRC gets 2. Protestants get .5, just like Reformed. The problem is with your innovative settings. No religion in the world can help you get missionaries at full innovative.

This isn't going to change. Innovative has tons of advantages, which is why you have it set to 10. :) With the plusses, come minuses. One of which is a lack of missionaries. At 1720, you shouldn't need to be converting at that point. The cost involved and time required for conversion won;t allow for a decent return on your investement, especially if you fail on a couple of attempts.

Pretty much - remember that Reformed represents Calvinism and its direct descendants in the game (like Scottish Presbyterianism and English Puritanism). They were all very much narrowminded - the Puritans fled England and the Netherlands because they were too tolerant! While they had great success converting people in lands without powerful, decentralized nobility (where Lutheranism had taken hold) due to their independent cell structure, Reformed governments were often pretty close to being theocratic totalitarianisms (e.g. Calvin's Geneva with its secret police).

One counter-example we see is the United States, which was a very tolerant place despite being Reformed - but they didn't convert their own people, and in fact had a patchwork of different religions in different states, including Catholics (Maryland, etc.), Anglicans, Methodists, Quakers (Pennsylvania) and more.

So I think this is a case of WaD (Working as Designed).

Eh? Tons of advantages? About the only advantage of Innovative I can think of is the increased chance of getting a random manufactory. Narrowminded gives you more colonists, more missionaries, lower stability costs, free random conversions, extra conquistadors. Innovative on the other hand gives you a lower technology cost, which (in SP) you don't need anyway (well, maybe if you're in Muslim techgroup and don't want to lag to much going Innovative might be worth considering).
