Hi all, been lurking on the forums and only just got around to registering my copy of EU3 so I could start talking here.

I'm having a bizarre issue that I haven't seen before with my current game on DW 5.1 as Sweden where my economy slider changes don't have any effect for about 6 months. This can obviously be disastrous if I'm going into debt and I need to quickly mint some money to avoid a loan. I change the slider to mint some money but the little debt icon doesn't update it's values of how much I'm spending a month and my actually expenditure when the month ticks over still reflects the old value for around the next 6 months.

I've also just had an issue with the National sliders where I went one step to narrowminded which should get me an extra .05 colonists a year but my colonist income still states 1.0 due to being catholic. This really isn't helping my colonisation of the new world, it's been 7 years since the slider change and still no update to the value.

Has anyone seen these issues? I haven't come across either before so I'm wondering if my save game got corrupted at some point along the way and if there's any way to validate or fix it?

The economics page won't update while you still look at it. You can either switch to another page and back, or you can click the icon at the top of the page to refresh it. Some things, such as military maintenance, take until the end of the month to update.

Narrowminded doesn't increase your colonists, it increases your colonial growth. This means than when you establish a colony, the size of the colony increases faster, which means you spend less money and colonists attempting to get it to city status. The Narrowminded slider gets you missionaries, which convert provinces, and have nothing to do with colonialism.

If you want more colonists, you can get them through the Colonial Ventures idea, or controlling coastal centres of trade.

This.
All slider changes won't take effect until you leave that page.
Some numbers won't even update until a month ticks over.

Around the 2nd game that I've tried, I thought I was cheating the system by moving the sliders from full minting to tech, which gives me tech progress and minted money at the same time.

Ah, thankyou, that answers a lot of questions. Quite a bizarre oddity as I often have that window open fine tuning just how much I need to mint to get through the year. Simple bug to work around though :)

Thanks, I need to read the tooltips more, Colonial ventures for my next NI I think. I currently have the entire North American continent to myself but not enough colonists to get all the provinces fast enough, the english are lurking around and I'm afraid they'll start taking over some of the nice ones sooner than I'd like!
