So I was playing around with the game, used the civic Syncretic evolution. Made the subservient species that was the same as the Primary species, same picture and name. The Sub species was considered part of the primary. I give Paradox two thumbs up for getting that right. It turned out I couldn't enslave the sub race, even though the primary race was Authoritarian and xenophobe. Slave guild and syncretic evolution prevent each other. What I would like to see is if you give part of your race subservient, nerve stable, or delicious trait you should be able to enslave them or even purge despite the race being a sub race of yours.

If you take Syncretic Evolution as an Authoritarian and/or Xenophobe, click on the Species tab, set rights for the servile species, and you can enslave them in there. You don't need the Slaver Guilds civic.

As an aside, the game prevents you from picking Slaver Guilds with Syncretic Evolution because it would lead to an overabundance of worker-only pops. Slaver Guilds forces 40% of every species of your population on every planet to be enslaved.

If you were allowed to pick a Syncretic species in addition to Slaver Guilds, then you would start the game with 4 or 5 non-enslaved pops of your main species, 7 or 8 enslaved main species pops (worker-only jobs), and another 12 servile pops (worker-only jobs). It would be an economic disaster of having too many workers and too few pops capable of filling specialist and ruler jobs.

That is why the game does not allow you to pick Slaver Guilds and Syncretic Evolution together.
